MonoPack 1.2
by
Shrimp of New Core
Usage
- Run BOOTSAVE.TOS
- Insert the disk that you want New Core Monoemulator installed onto.
- Press the little button marked "1" or "2".
If your boot contains a bootable bootsector BOOTSAVE will tell you.
If it does you might destroy valuable data if you write or erase
the bootsector, but then the bootsector could contain a virus
(which is more likely).
- Switch off your computer and boot up.
- Press one of these keys during bootup if you don't want
any of the New Core Monoemulators to activate.
Control
Either shiftbutton
Alternate
Caps lock
Default settings
- Other monoemulators slows down the screen-uppdating while
the drive is activ, but since I haven't noticed any slowdown
in diskspeed or any buggs due to interference by the mono-
emulator, this funktion is off as default.
If anyone has any problems with the drive and the emulator,
then contact me.
- Emulationspeed is as default 3 vbl:s/screenupdate.
New Core Monoemulator 1.0b(bootsector)
- Works on all (?) ST:s, STE:s, Mega STE:s with TOS in ROM
but if you are a ST owner you must switch off the computer
completely before booting the emulator, not just reseting.
- Occupies 32638 bytes while running of which 32256 is screenmemory
for the medium-resolution-screen (the screenaddress must be on an
"even byte" address on the ST). That leaves 382 bytes for the
monoemulator.
- This isn't just the smallest monoemulator it is also the fastest
(on the ST (Well almost, the monoemulator called Monulator is as
fast as mine)). New Core Monoemulator takes about 35 % cpu-time
at 16 hz (one screenuppdate every third vbl).
Bugs
- There's a bug, on the ST during the installation, that can
make the screen shifted to the left (2 or 4 bytes). When this
happens just reboot.
New Core Monoemulator 1.0b(bootsector) STE
- Works on STE:s only, uses the blitter for the screenupdateing.
If you boot up the STE version on a ST the mono-emulator won't
activate.
- Uses even less memory than the ST version (32324 bytes).
- The STE version takes about 28 % cpu-time at 16 hz (of course it's
the fastest STE mono emulator).
Disadvantages with the STE version
- It doesn't run on ST:s.
- Since it uses the blitter, the blitter is unactivated for all
other programs.
MonoPack 1.0
- New Core Monoenulator 1.0b included.
- Possibility to erase bootsectors.
Additions MonoPack 1.2
- New Core Monoemulator 1.0b STE included.
- You can preset the screenupdateingspeed.
- You can preset the emulator to switch off screenupdateing
while the drive is active.
A more complex monoemulator which uses the blitter (if avaliable) and
faster screenuppdating at the mousepointer and lots more is on it's way.
Have a nice day /
