The last entries to the About You competition.
Run by Chris Sharp
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Well, this month see's the final entries to the About You competition run by
me. A very big thank you to everyone who entered. Your names have all gone into
the hat, and the winner will be anounced at the bottom of this document, which
contains both of the entry's.
1) What is your name?
Gary Simmons
2) Where do you live (full address please)?
34 Earlswood Gnds, Ilford, Essex, IG5 ODF
3) How old are you?
Much, much too old.
4a) What do you do for a living?
Work too bloody hard for too little money.
4b) What Computer hardware do you have?
1040 STF, Philips monitor, Eklipse mouse, joystick, Epson LQ 850 (old)
5) Have you any aliases? If so what is it / are they?
None that I'm telling, (in case the wife reads this).
6) Have you released any programs into the Public Domain or Shareware market?
No, but that is one of my fantasies. I probably will one day but it will be
something like a CD disk as that it about the extent of my capabilities.
7) If yes, what programs were they?
You weren't listening!
8) How many issue's of Power Diskzine do you have, and which ones are they?
I've got all of them but I have never seen issue 1 because it won't load.
It would be interesting to see what James put in it as he obviously had no
help with articles.
9) Which was your best issue of Power, and why?
Dunno they are all good. No that's not quite the truth. There are two issues
that stick in my mind. I forget what issue it was but it was very soon
after I started sending stuff in and the letters column was full of
praising letters about the drivel I had submitted - it was a real ego trip.
The other was issue 12 or 13 but that was because I thought it was full of
stuff I didn't find interesting(?).
10) Which is your favorite P.D. library, and why?
POWER P.D. (that's the truth - James knows why!)
11) Have you seen the Atari Falcon 030, and if yes, what did you think of it?
Some arsehole was showing off at the London Atari Show and wouldn't get off
the machine so all I've done is peer over someone's shoulder. (if that was
you Chris - SORRY!)
12) What do you think about Atari's marketing strategy?
Atari have as much idea about marketing as Hitler did about community care.
13) What is your favorite Atari ST glossy magazine?
ST Review.
14) Which is your favorite programming language?
English. Seriously though it must be STOS. So how can somebody who can't
program have a favourite language? Easy, think of all the people who
contribute to POWER, all the people who are good contacts, all the people
who run P.D.L.'s and disk mags and a lot of the people who produce PD games
and then think what they have in common. They all use STOS. Why are STOS
users so differant from other programmers?
15) Which is your least favorite programming language?
'C'. Do any C users do above?
16) Who do you admire in the ST World?
All those who give their time for the benifit of others - there's a lot of
them.
17a) How much do you spend on hardware in 1 month?
Dunno - this year I've bought two 100 cap. disk boxes, 200 disks,and a
mouse so you work it out.
17b) How much do you spend on commercial software in 1 month?
Nothing.
17c) How much do you spend on Public Domain software in 1 month?
Not much 'cos I've got some outstanding contacts, but postage - WOW!
18) Is there anything that shouldn't be in POWER Diskzine?
No. Part of it's attraction is that ANYTHING can be in it.
19) Should there be more of anything in POWER Diskzine?
Can't think what!
20) Whats your favorite food/drink?
Chinese, roast dinner, maltesers, cheese rolls, dolly mixtures, pizza, wilk
shakes, whiskey and lemonade and Southern Comfort and lemonade.
21a) Have you ever tried to learn Assembly Language?
The only Assembly I know about is the ones I had at school.
21a) If so, where did you get the information about assembler from?
21c) Were you successful in learning assembler to any degree?
22) Have you ever programmed for profit?
23) Have you heard any good jokes lately?
There were two nuns in a Metro stopped at some traffic lights when a pair
of yobs started shouting at them, laughing and banging on the bonnet. Both
nuns were very frightened and didn't know what to do except hold on to each
other and pray. The Mother Superior was clutching her crucifix and kissing
it when the novice nun said, 'What shall I do Mother Superior'. The Mother
Superior said,'Show them your Cross, show them your Cross'. The novice
carefully wound down her window and shouted 'Get off the f**k**g car'.
And in the event of a tie breaker, the person who wins will be the person who
completes this slogan in the most apt and original way -:
'I read Power diskzine because... '
I just love reading the Hobbit!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In no more than 18 (eighteen) words.
