--- BY JAMES L. MATHEWS ---
Oh dear, another chit chat. What's the world turning to?! Actually, I've
been amazed at how many people actually like reading this little section of
POWER. People moan at me for constantly slagging it off, it seems that it
is really liked so that's good to hear. I think that last month's Chit
Chat was pretty good...My contribution wasn't but we had some really decent
chat from Gary and Chris. Speaking to Gary on the phone shortly after the
release of POWER #15, he was amazed at how similar the content of both
their chit chats were. Anyway, at the point in writing this little chit
chat, it's pretty early in the month so I might get some more chat from
someone else to put later on in this section although then again...I might
not! Actually, I did this last month. I did the Chit Chat really early in
the month and then two or three days before the release, I got a chit chat
from Chris and Gary which saved it really 'coz my chit chat was dreadful!
Anyway, enough of chatting about my chitting (?!?!?!) and on to something
else...
Er...Oh isn't this a first! I'm stuck for something to write!!!
Well, the first Shareware issue of POWER. What do you think so far? Well,
as I've said, I'm writing this Chit Chat pretty early in the month so I
haven't seen what the finished issue looks like but I hope that you are
enjoying it. I'm sure that going Shareware was the best thing to do.
Licenceware was just too restrictive, I wasn't getting a good enough spread
for POWER which was cutting down my readership but now that we're in the
Shareware scene I want you all to spread your copies of POWER as much as
possible. As long as you keep everything as it is, you can copy POWER from
now on as much as you want to and I would appreciate if you would. We are
expecting a readership of 300 by issue 17 so help me achieve this by
sending copies to all your mates, contacts, enemies, P.D. Libraries and
everyone else you know of that has an ST. You may wonder what's so good
about a big readership. Well, that's simple. The more readers we get, the
more potential registers which means more funds, which means a better
POWER. Also, it means more potential writers of different warps of ST life
so with a bigger readership, we can get even more articles on an even wider
variety of subjects so as our readership gets bigger and better, so does
POWER so help us grow!
I'm currently listening to a tape full of rave music, rap and dance music
and guess what song has just come on...BOOM SHAKE THE ROOM! I hate that
bloody song. I used to like it but it is played everywhere! It's always
coming out of every available speaker in the world and is on every single
rave tape, every single rap tape and every single dance music tape. I
reckon that more people have a copy of this song than they do of EVERYTHING
I DO by Bryan Adams...Na, that's just not possible really is it?!
That DOOP is another song that is everywhere...It's a song that grows on
you though. At first I hated it but after being bombarded with it
constantly, I grew to like it. It won't be long though before I'm kicking
the house apart when I hear it as the problem with number 1 hits is that
they are over-played so their life isn't as long as it could be.
Talking of repeating this too much, it's Easter Sunday tomorrow and as
usual, there's nothing on T.V. that I haven't seen before. They repeat
every single film possible and there's nothing decent on T.V. at all yet
they advertise everything and hype it all up as if it's a real treat, an
exclusive, an amazing offer...But it's not. Let's see...We've got
Superman, James Bond etc. Those films WERE very popular I admit but how
many times have they been shown exactly? No, I can't count that high
either! Even Carol Vorderman, the wiz mathematician can't! It's peak time
viewing yet they offer us complete rubbish. Anyway, who needs T.V. when
you've got POWER...A place where you're safe from repeats...Safe from
repeats...Safe from repeats...Safe from repeats...
Who's seen that program hosted by Terry Wogan, Do The Right Thing? Mmmm,
it's quite enjoyable but how many of you actually do the right thing? I
feel really guilty, I sit there watching it and everyone votes to do the
morally correct thing while I sit there shouting at the T.V. for them to do
the wrong thing. Am I twisted? Do I have the devil in me or are there
more of you out there that wish everyone wasn't so...GOOD! They actually
admitted to that program not being live as they first suggested. It is all
pre-recorded although they insist that the phone-in part (you know, the bit
where you sell your right kidney so you can afford the phone-call!) is
live...Mmmm...I wonder!
Right, well I think I've exhausted my chat you'll be glad to hear so I'm
off now. Enjoy the rest of POWER and I'll chat more with you next
month! Remember that YOU can write your OWN chit chat's for publication in
POWER too. It's the best way to chat your head off and not have anybody
interrupt you!
