The Silly Games Pack by Deano reviewed
Review by Chris Sharp
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This software pack comes on one disk and costs around about £3 I think. It
contains 3 games which are:
SILLY REELS
MURDER ON THE DAIRY EXPRESS
GRANNIES GARDEN
On receiving this disk, I loaded it up and expected to be presented with the
desktop, and the choice of 3 programs to load. Well, that didn't happen.
Instead, I was greeted by a good introduction and a nice tune in the
background.
On pressing the spacebar, I was taken to the desktop to choose which game to
load first. I chose Silly Reels first, and clicked on it to load. I played
this game for about half an hour before deciding to load another game. Silly
Reels was good, but there wasn't that much variation, and I had found a
small bug which enabled me to win very easily.
Silly Reels is a fruit machine simulator. The graphics are good and
although there's no sound effects, there is a good chip tune playing in the
background throughout the game.
Next up was the Murder on the Dairy Express written by James L. Mathews. Now
I'm not a great fan of text adventures, but I loaded this with an open mind.
James has the same sense of humour as myself, and I thought that this might
be OK. I started the game, and was told that a gerbil had been sick! I
typed in the next command, and was told the gerbil had done something else.
In fact, the gerbil 'did' about 200 different funny things. I played about
with the game for a little while, and then quit.
It's not a bad game at all with some very nice touches. The gerbil doesn't
really have much to do with the game, he is simply your pet that follows
you around and you are constantly updated with what he is doing.
Last up was Grannies Garden. I can't remember too much about this, but I do
remember thinking "I wonder how he crammed so many different graphics into
this game!". Plenty of graphics in this game, and if you like point and
click adventures (which is what this game is), then you'll love this!
All in all, this package is a very worthwhile addition to any collection.
The games are not mind blowing stuff, but they will keep you amused for a
good afternoon, possibly more.
