* EVER NOTICED...? *

* BY KEEFY *

Ever noticed that no matter how hard you try to avoid certain things, they
always seem to happen?
Ever noticed that your disk drive could work perfectly for a whole year and
then suddenly decide to pack up just as you are trying to save a text file
that you've just spent about 5 hours typing?
Ever noticed that when your disk drive DOES pack up, that the last back-up
of the file you did was just after you had typed out the title?!
Ever noticed that just after you've dribbled the ball the whole length of
the pitch in Sensible Soccer, the joystick packs up just as you're about to
shoot into an empty net.
Ever noticed that by the time the joystick has recovered, the keeper has
gotten back into place and saved the shot?
Ever noticed that just as you have started printing a letterhead, you see
that the paper is too far up?
Ever noticed that once you've stopped the printer, put in a fresh piece of
paper and then reset the printer, that as soon as you switch the printer
back on you realise that you forgot to get rid of the previous printout
data from the buffer?
Ever noticed that after copying about 20 copies of one particular disk,
packing and posting them, you realise that the original disk contained a
virus?
Ever noticed the nasty letters you received as a result?
Ever noticed that after spending all day ironing out a bug in your latest
program, thinking you have it sorted, only to discover another much bigger
bug?
Ever noticed how you finish your program and release it to all the public
domain libraries only for a mate to tell you about a massive great bug he
found?
Ever noticed when executing a big program then going off to do something
else while you wait, that when you return the program has almost always
crashed at a point about 2 seconds after you left the room?
Ever noticed when reading an extremely interesting text file that about
half way through you come across a bit which is completely corrupt and
unreadable?
Ever noticed that after drawing a really good picture, you attempt to load
a separate picture into another screen, only to realise you've overwritten
the one you just did?
Ever noticed after spending an hour grabbing a really good sample for a
program it sounds as hissy as a nest of snakes in your program?
Ever noticed how the phone always rings or someone knocks on the door
just as you get a really great idea for something?
Ever noticed how that by the time you get back to the computer you've
forgotten what it was you were going to do?!
Ever noticed after being told by your virus killer there is a virus in
memory, you check your entire collection?
Ever noticed that several hours later after finding no virus, you
discover it was some screen saver on a disk you've just been sent?
Ever noticed that when the wife wants to use the hoover, she always wants
to use one of the plug extension sockets you are using?
Ever noticed how she always pulls the main computer plug, despite how
many times you showed her which one was for the printer?
Ever noticed when picking up a rather big pile of disks to look through,
there's always one poking out?
Ever noticed how the disk poking out catapults itself across the room
sending the rest of the pile crashing to the floor?!
Ever noticed when removing sticky disk-labels there is always one little
bit that you can't get off no matter how hard you try?
Ever noticed that after getting a really great score on a game, you
enter your name only to realise that the program dosen't actually save it?
Ever noticed how pointless a high score table is without the facility to
save it?
Ever noticed that if you have a cigarette near the computer, if any ash
falls off, it always lands on the computer?
Ever noticed how hard it is to get it out of the vent afterwards?
Ever noticed how disorganised your work-station can get after a couple
of days?
Ever noticed after getting rid of all your excess back-up files that you
realise you needed half a dozen of them?
Ever noticed that just after clicking on 'OK' to delete a file, you
realise that you have in fact deleted the wrong one?
Ever noticed that if you try to prevent the deletion by switching the
computer off, that when you try and use the disk again, it's completely
corrupt?!
Ever noticed how boring this article is getting?
