--- ANOTHER DEATH IN THE FAMILY ---
After 18 months of STOS companionship, it has been officially announced that
the STOS disk magazine, STOSSER, has died. Their final issue, issue 18, has
just been released (obtainable from POWER P.D. on PWR 479). Keefy said, "I
was just fed up with the lack of contributors". It seems that once again,
lack of feedback has killed off another disk magazine. More dangerous than
poison, lack of feedback and contributions is responsible for the death of
numerous disk magazines, even the favourite STEN. Well, as STOSSER bites
the dust, I just hope that the amount of POWER contributors pick up soon...I
don't want POWER to go the same way! Incidentally, Keefy, the editor of
STOSSER, intends on sticking around on the ST scene and told POWER that he
is now working on two STOS releases at once so keep an eye out for those.

--- STOSSER IS DEAD. THE STOSSER DEMO IS ALIVE ---
Yes, although STOSSER disk magazine is now a thing of the past, the STOSSER
demo (an idea conceived by Tony Greenwood, founder of STOSSER) lives on.
Now under Martin Cubitts control, it is hoped that the STOSSER demo will
continue to be worked on and will finally be released at one point or
another. If you feel that you can contribute, write to STOSSER at the
following address:

--- SUPREME SOFTWARE LIVES ON ---
Once again, happy-go-lucky Chris Sharp, head of THE SUPREME SOFTWARE GROUP,
has changed his mind. The recent decision of SUPREME SOFTWARE coming to an
end has been changed. The group is now going to carry on producing for the
ST under the SUPREME SOFTWARE label but now, instead of being a licenceware
company, due to lack of support, have decided to go commercial. SUPREME
SOFTWARE will now be selling future releases at commercial prices and the
first product to be released will be FREAKED OUT III some time in 1995. The
rubbish in last month's news section about Chris going to America for a year
was simply a cruel joke on Chris's part to try and embarrass me. How
imature huh?!

--- POWER P.D. GOES MEGA! ---
After lots of thought, I have decided to make POWER a commercial venture and
start to charge for disks instead of swap them on a two-for-one basis. A
full article on the subject can be found somewhere in this issue of POWER
and also in a future issue of ST HANDBOOK (either issue 5 or 6 - Also
available from POWER P.D.). We have basically done it so that we can offer
a service to more people and basically offer more to the ST scene. It has
NOT been done to increase the size of my bank balance!
We are now charging just 99p per P.D.\Shareware disk which INCLUDES postage
and packaging. We also sell VERY cheap disks, commercial software, ST
HANDBOOK, licenceware and offer a top quality service with a brand new P.D.
disk catalogue which has been totally revamped. For a free copy, just send
a disk and S.S.A.E. to the normal POWER address (in the info file).

--- WHO SAID THAT THE ST COMMERCIAL SCENE IS DEAD? ---
In association with POWER P.D., to try and keep the ST alive and flurishing,
we have decided to start off our own commercial brand of software. We
realise that the main thing killing the ST is the lack of commercial support
so we're going to try and change that with loads of new top quality ST
commercial software. We already have one project under way, BRENARVIOUS :
AARON 2 being coded by Andy Morgan. It promises to be even better than the
immensely popular original and with loads more projects hoped to be under
way very soon, we are hoping that TOP BYTE SOFTWARE will really take off so
help us along. More info about TOP BYTE and our releases will be revealed
in the near future in POWER and probably the glossies too so look out for
us.
If YOU feel that YOU could contribute in some way by programming a future
release or would like more information or whatever, then simply write to the
normal POWER address : 3 Salisbury Road, Maidstone, Kent, England, ME14
2TY.
Also write if you would like to stock TOP BYTE SOFTWARE in your P.D.L. or
user group.

--- MORE ST SHOWS! ---
Due to the popularity of the two July ST shows this year (see POWER #20 for
our show reviews of the event), more have been planned for later this year.
At present, no exact venues have been planned as far as I am aware but the
dates and areas look like this:
LEEDS - 12TH NOVEMBER
GLASGOW - 13TH NOVEMBER
BIRMINGHAM - 10TH DECEMBER
LONDON - 11TH DECEMBER
I will more than likely be appearing at the London show so why not pop down
and meet me (and probably a few other POWER contributors too)?

--- A NEW STOSSER? ---
Chris Sharp of THE SUPREME SOFTWARE GROUP has informed me that he may well
be producing a new STOS disk magazine to help out those STOS users who no
longer have STOSSER to read. Chris apparently has already started work on
the front-end of the magazine and only intends on making it a one-off but
says that it's going to be a BIG one-off. If you feel that you can
contribute to Chris's magazine or would like more information then write to
the following address:

--- FIX THE CAR FOR FREE OR THE TEDDY GETS IT! ---
Due to large expenses fixing his car, Mark Matts, programmer of the infamous
comms package, TEDDY TERM, has sold all his computer equipment and is about
to release the final version of T-TERM but he is interested in getting
someone to take over development of the product and take on all updates.
If someone DOES want to take over, all registered users names will be passed
on. Meanwhile, Teddy Term is dead!

--- ASCIILUM P.D.L. BLASTS OFF ---
Asciilum P.D.L. has just opened. Run by Gary Simmons, the popular POWER
contributor, Gary has finally got his dream off the ground and running. Now
that both POWER P.D. and ASCIILUM P.D.L. are totally up and running in the
commercial sense, we intend on both teaming up and breathing a hell of a lot
of life back into the ST scene. We have big, big plans so look out for both
of us...We're gonna make your ST really worth having!

--- YET ANOTHER P.D.L. ---
A person named James Davidson has just written to me informing me that he
has started off a new P.D. swapping service under the name of J.D.P.D. (not
to be confused with J.B.P.D. run by Jamie Blakeney). For a free disk
catalogue, simply send a disk and S.S.A.E. to:

--- AND ANOTHER ONE?! ---
Yet ANOTHER Public Domain Library has hit the ST scene running under the
name of KEY P.D. With this many new P.D. libraries popping up with my
P.D.L., POWER P.D. going commercial too so as to aid even more ST users, how
can anyone say that the ST is dead? Well, they can't! Anyway, if you would
like a catalogue disk, send your name and address along with 1st class
stamps to:
KEY P.D.

--- ST USER ENTERS THE GRAVEYARD ---
What started off as unsure rumours here in POWER disk magazine have now been
proved to be totally true. ST USER is officially going to 'DIE!'. Due to
increased circulation figures planned for ST REVIEW (who also produce ST
USER) and lack of readership, ST USER is going to have its final issue in
the very near future...In fact, I think it is the next issue. If you would
like to express your views on yet another glossy magazine dying, then read
the TALKING POINT article in this issue of POWER.
UPDATE : STOP PRESS!
The final ST USER has just been released today and a copy has reached me.
This IS the final issue and it is now going to merge with ST REVIEW. ST
USER is officially dead as we know it.
