  24. The following is an updated repost:

  26. I've bought a house.  This means that every waking moment I'm
  27. not at work involves mowing or painting or something much
  28. less fun than playing games on my Atari ST.  This means that
  29. YOU, the unwary, er, buying public have a chance to pick up on
  30. these great games - all practically free!
  31.  
  32. The prices given below are 25 to 30 percent of list,
  33. depending on how recent the game is and how "hot" it is on the
  34. 'Doug' game scale.  I would prefer no trades, but you can always
  35. try.  All games consist of original disks and docs, but
  36. I no longer have boxes or reg cards.  To the best of my know-
  37. ledge, all of the games work just fine.  Unless you want several
  38. of the games, add a dollar for postage per order.  And, of course,
  39. all prices are fully negotiable.

  41. A 'J' indicates the game requires a joystick.  An 'H' indicates
  42. that the game can be mounted on a hard drive.  An 'n' indicates
  43. that the game can be played with up to n people.

  116. I tried ftping gcc-137.zoo01 through gcc-137.zoo13 from terminator.  I used
  117. BINARY mode from an Intel320 acting as a DDN node on MILNET.
  118.  
  119. I then downloaded them from the Intel to my ST.  01 unzooed OK until it hit
  120. tm_m68k and then it gave me a corrupt header in file and quit.  When I list all
  121. the others (02 - 13) I get bad archive error messages and can't even see what's
  122. inside these files.

  124. Has anyone else experienced difficulty with these or is it just my host?  All
  125.  the files came through with the corre.

  127. I've tried zoo on the ST and also a PC at work although the PC version is only
  128. 1.31.

  155. I am looking for a harddisk backup and restore program that will
  156. backup large files across multiple floppy disks while keeping the
  157. folder hierarchy intact.  It would be nice if it could do file
  158. compression also.  I am also looking for a harddisk tools package that
  159. would allow me to recover lost files and optimize the harddisk for
  160. reads or writes.  I am running TOS 1.0 on a 1040ST.

  175. To expand on Troy Carpenter's reply to an earlier query:

  177. The current version of Phasar is 4.0.  I have seen it in the Joppa price
  178. list for $US54.00.  I did an extensive review and tutorial on the product
  179. in the March 1990 Current Notes.  I feel that it sets the standard for this
  180. type of program and it is relatively economical.  The support to date has been
  181. very good, although some may quarrel with the price of the upgrade from ver
  182. 3 to ver 4.  While the new release is not an entirely new product there are
  183. extensive improvements to the user interface.
  184.  
  185. This program also does a splendid job of handling taxes, budgeting, and
  186. other matters of personal finance.
  187.  
  188. I suspect that an ST 512 user would find it somewhat cramped.  I would encourage
  189. and 512 user, particularly one who is using a hard drive, to stuff in as much me
  190. memory as he can.  He will want it for things like NeoDesk, Hotwire, UIS III,
  191. and the like, which are all essential to making operation on an ST smooth.

  239. On all this discussion of disassembly and lack of information for
  240. nondevelopers I like the analogy to car service manuals pretty well. They
  241. don't come with the cars, but the company does need to produce them anyway.
  242. If you really want want you can order one at the same time as the car. The
  243. last time I did this they cost aabout $20.00 for a pretty big book. I am sure
  244. that you would here a lot less complaints on the net if Atari published the
  245. technical information on its computers in a well edited from at a similar
  246. cost per page.

  260. pixels on a multisynch, I have seen it advertised in ST-Computer (Feb 90) and
