<tease>How do I enter my new shares if I don't have all the details or don't want to track details?</tease>

<tease>What are the drawbacks of not tracking the details of my transactions?</tease>
<reveal>
<p>If you're only tracking the total number of shares you own (and not entering the price) using the <emph>Add Shares</emph> option, Money's tax features may not be able to track your capital gains correctly. For example, if you enter a stock purchase using the <emph>Add Shares</emph> option, and don't enter a price, the <glossary>cost basis</glossary> for those shares is zero. If the price is $100/share, then you will see a $100 gain in your portfolio for each share you own, which is higher than the actual growth. If you want your tax, performance, and reports information to be more accurate, record the price as you enter transactions.</p>
