  3. the popularization of science. Local
  4. newspapers feature scientific advan-
  5. ces researched half a world away
  6. and popular TV shows treat science
  7. as an entertaining topic. Understan-
  8. ding scientific jargon has become
  9. essential to our ability to read
  10. about and use the sciences that af-
  11. fect our lives. The author developed
  12. this test as part of comprehensive
  13. scientific vocabulary tests.

  18. INSTRUCTIONS: This test contains six
  19. groups of scientific terms, with
  20. eight words and ten responses in
  21. each group. Descriptions of all
  22. eight words in a group are in that
  23. group's ten responses. Each term has 
  24. one reasonable response. Choose the
  25. best response available. You can use
  26. the arrow keys to move back and
  27. forth and change answers within a
  28. group until you have pressed RETURN.
  29. You will not be allowed to go back
  30. after that. You have 4 minutes.
