  1. ART JUDGMENT TEST
  2. How many times have you heard (or
  3. said), "I may not know much about
  4. art, but I know what I like." This
  5. test is based on research in meas-
  6. uring aesthetic judgment. Mr.
  7. Meier's goal was to present pairs of
  8. drawings, each exploring a principle
  9. of aesthetic judgment. Your task is
  10. to select the alternative with the
  11. greatest aesthetic value. Meier
  12. wrote that anyone with good aesthe-
  13. tic judgment should be able to sense
  14. the "perfect equilibrium of tension
  15. and volumes." The test is an abbre-
  16. viation of the original.

  20. INSTRUCTIONS: Take out the Art Judg-
  21. ment Test booklet which is enclosed
  22. in your package. Beginning on the
  23. front page you will be presented 
  24. with 20 sets of drawings. Pictures
  25. a. will differ slightly from pic-
  26. tures b. The differences between the
  27. pictures will be described by the
  28. computer. You are to pick the varia-
  29. tion that you find more aesthetical-
  30. ly pleasing. You can skip a question
  31. by pressing RETURN, and you will be
  32. allowed to go through the test again
  33. to fill in and change answers. There
  34. is no time limit for this test.
  35. Some of the questions are worth two
  36. points.
