  2. Having a good vocabulary is asso-
  3. ciated with high levels of many ver-
  4. bal abilities. Based on this view,
  5. Dr. Melvin Haggerty of the Universi-
  6. ty of Minnesota and Dr. Alvin Eurich
  7. of Stanford produced this test as
  8. part of the Minnesota Reading Exami-
  9. nation. You will be forced to pull
  10. the words and their likely meanings
  11. from a different part of your memory
  12. than you would employ for everyday
  13. words. The test should serve as an
  14. interesting measure of the breadth
  15. of your vocabulary as well as your
  16. overall reading level.

  20. INSTRUCTIONS: There are 100 words on
  21. the test, each followed by 4 words
  22. or phrases. You are to choose the
  23. response that is the best definition
  24. of the first word. You can skip a
  25. question by pressing RETURN. If you
  26. have time you will be allowed to go
  27. through the test again to fill in
  28. and change answers. You have six
  29. minutes to complete this test so
  30. you will have to work quickly.
