  1. **** KEYBOARD AIDS ****     -     Menu 5 - HELP Facility                Page  1

  3.      The purpose of the Keyboard Aids Menu is to let you select various screen
  4. displayed keyboard options and turn them ON or OFF.
  5.  
  6.      The CAPITAL letter part of the "(OFF/on)" designation after each item ind-
  7. icates the initial setting of the option when you first start FAS-TYPE.
  8.  
  9.      Each time you press a function key you will reverse the previous setting
  10. of the option.  If it's ON you'll turn it OFF, if it was OFF you'll turn it ON.
  11.  
  12.      Each option keeps its setting through out all the drill and exercises
  13. you may select.  They are not reset unless you change them, or reload
  14. FAS-TYPE.  You can set as many options as you want to, but:

  16.   ***   YOU CANNOT SET OPTIONS FROM THIS HELP FACILITY, YOU HAVE TO
  17.         RETURN TO THE MENU LIST.

  20.           < F2 >  QUIET Mode
  21.  
  22.      When QUIET mode is turned ON, all speaker sounds will be suppressed;
  23. it is turned OFF, all speaker sounds will be available.

  27.           < F3 > Hidden Keys
  28.      When this feature is turned ON, all of the letters and characters on the
  29. screen keyboard will be erased.  You will still see the prompted letter
  30. for you to type.

  33.           < F4 >  Outline HOME Keys
  34.      When this feature is turned on, boxes will be drawn around the ASDF and
  35. JKL; "home" keys to aid you in correct placement of your fingers.  This feature
  36. might be desirable with the hidden key option.

  39.           < F5 >  Signal Keystroke Error
  40.      This option enables a sound to emitted from the speaker when you make a
  41. typing mistake.  You can turn this feature ON or OFF.

  44.           < F6 >  Align Finger Positions
  45.      This option draws vertical lines on the screen displayed keyboard to
  46. separate the keys that each finger will control during typing.

  51.           < F7 >  Reset Keyboard Aids
  52.      This feature RESETS all keyboard aids that were previously set ON or OFF
  53. using the Keyboard Aids Menu.  One exception-QUIET Mode will NOT be turned
  54. OFF if you earlier set it ON. Press F2 to reset the QUIET Mode.

  57.           < F8 >  Set number of characters per drill
  58.   
  59.      This option sets the number of characters that you want to be drilled
  60. for on any exercise chosen from the Beginner Drills Menu.
  61.  
  62.      You have to type in two numbers in the range from 10 to 99 when the
  63. message is displayed after pressing F8.  The numbers you select will show on
  64. the message line in place of the "__" characters. You don't have to press
  65. enter, the line will show a message indicating the numbers you have entered.

  67.      If you've entered a number and you change your mind just press F8 again
  68. to change the number to something else, or press another function key before
  69. entering a number.  The number is preset at 20.   The number in the [ ] brack-
  70. ets at the end of the message line shows the current number setting.

  77.           < F9 >  Return to Main Menu
  78.  
  79.      Pressing this function key will cause the MAIN Menu to be displayed.
  80. Any keyboard aids selected from this menu will remain in effect.

  83.           < F10 >  START Drill
  84.  
  85.      This function key causes the screen keyboard to be displayed, keyboard
  86. aids to be drawn or set and the drill or exercise to begin.
