  4. The Dvorak pattern was named after a
  5. member of a group of researchers
  6. working for the US navy in the 1920's
  7. or '30's.  They found the very best
  8. pattern discovered to date.
  9.     The experienced typist is 20 - 30
  10. percent faster than a QWERTY typist
  11. with similar experience, yet it is
  12. just as easy to learn one pattern as
  13. the other, if starting from scratch.
  14.     Typists working 8 hours with
  15. QWERTY move their fingers 7-8 miles,
  16. an inch at a time, but typists
  17. using Dvorak will move only one mile.
  18.     Supposedly, accuracy improves,
  19. but I have not found that to be true.
  20.     It is much smoother and more
  21. relaxing.
