- The Dvorak pattern was named after a
- member of a group of researchers
- working for the US navy in the 1920's
- or '30's. They found the very best
- pattern discovered to date.
- The experienced typist is 20 - 30
- percent faster than a QWERTY typist
- with similar experience, yet it is
- just as easy to learn one pattern as
- the other, if starting from scratch.
- Typists working 8 hours with
- QWERTY move their fingers 7-8 miles,
- an inch at a time, but typists
- using Dvorak will move only one mile.
- Supposedly, accuracy improves,
- but I have not found that to be true.
- It is much smoother and more
- relaxing.
