ATP Message Editor
==================
(C) 1993 by Simon Hradecky
ATP MESEDI (Message Editor) is capable of modifying all texts of ATP, which
are stored in files "FOREIGN.ATP" and "ATP.EXE" itsself.
System requirements: PC/AT (XT), 580 kB of free main memory
MS-DOS 5.0 or better
Installation: All Files must be copied into the directory of
ATPUTIL. ATPUTIL's keyfile "SYSTEM.DAT" unlocks
MESEDI, too.
Start of Program: At the dos prompt enter
MESEDI
The files FOREIGN.ATP and ATP.EXE must exist in current
directory.
General rules of user interface:
--------------------------------
The user interface is nearly the same as in ATPUTIL, except one point:
To modify a text you need to press F3 (grey + does not work). This different
behaviour was necessary to allow fast selection of entries for modification
(press first letters of text to select it).
For changing Insert and Overwrite Mode, while editing the message, press F9.
FOREIGN messages can be modified with one restriction. Texts may change length
and may contain control characters. Control characters need to be entered
within <> in hexadecimal (capital letters only - e.g. ESC is <1B>). Existing
control characters MUST NOT be changed, deleted or overwritten. NOTE: a '$' at
the end of a text is assumed to be a control character, too (necessary for DOS).
ATP messages must not contain control characters and must not change length -
neither shorten nor lengthen the message. MESEDI's text editor nevertheless allows
changes of text length. At the update the message is cut or padded with spaces
to proper length. Be careful with characters at the end of texts, especially
if they look like not belonging to the text - they may be part of execution
code. If you modify those characters, ATP may crash.
