  26. These four interviews, conducted between March and November of 1993,
  27. present representatives of CERN, the European EBONE backbone UUNET and
  28. the Australian Academic Research Network (AARNET).  (I must say that I
  29. have to sympathise with Malamud in the interview with Bernhard Stockman.  
  30. Initially, Stockman obviously is embarrassed and resistant to say
  31. "what everyone knows".  The interview is worth it -- the later part of
  32. the tape puts out fascinating ideas on the sociology of committees.)
  33.  
  34. As well as looking at networks in large portions of the globe (and
  35. places outside of the US), a fairly common theme to all of these talks
  36. is surmise about the future directions of network governing bodies.
  37. Do the ISO and CCITT work, given rapidly moving technologies?  Can the
  38. Internet Society and IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) continue
  39. as volunteer organizations?
