WESTERN DIGITAL
"PLUS"-FAMILY LAN ADAPTER BOARDS
JUMPER SETTINGS
Each Western Digital LAN adapter board provides several parameters
that are configured by setting appropriate jumpers on the board.
The following tables summarize the jumper configurations for
certain adapter boards.
For more detailed information on any board, or for information on
jumpers for an adapter board that is not listed here, refer to the
Western Digital "User Installation Guide" that comes with the
adapter board.
NOTE:
o Each "PLUS"-family LAN adapter board contains a RAM buffer
of either 8 or 32 Kbytes that occupies PC memory space.
The base address for this RAM memory is set by the software
you use, not by jumpers on the board.
o Network software distributed by Western Digital originally
used a default RAM base address of C4000 (hex); later
software will use a D0000 default base address.
o EGA and VGA adapters also have memory that occupies this
area and could conflict. D0000 is often a good RAM base
address for users of EGA adapters; D4000 is often good for
users of VGA adapters.
o Other add-on boards may also introduce conflicts with this
memory space. Other conflicts can occur with the I/O base
address and interrupt request level, which are controlled
by jumpers as described below.
