  15. What adapter boards and monitors can the v2.x Workstation use for Model 5 (132
  16. column) support?

  18. SOLUTION
  19. I. Version 2.00 provides Model 5 support:
  20.      A. With any VGA board that has a Tseng Labs compatible chip set if used
  21.      with any compatible VGA monitor.
  22.      This includes among others:
  23.           - Most Compaq 386 models
  24.           - Orchid ProDesigner II cards
  25.           - Tseng Labs EVA
  26.           - Ahead Systems VGA Enhancer
  27.      B. Any Standard EGA or VGA adapter that supports 132 column display IF
  28.      used with:
  29.           Sony MultiScan Monitors (or compatible with equivalent horizontal
  30.           scan rate)
  31.                OR
  32.           NEC MultiSync 3D monitors (or compatible with equivalent horizontal
  33.           scan rate) 
  34.      Unlike support for the Tseng compatible adapters this requires the
  35.      selection and use of the proper driver among those supplied with the
  36.      Workstation.

  38.      HOWEVER: Drivers to provide Standard VGA Model 5 support can not be
  39.      written for newer monitors with higher scan rates (ie NEC MultiSync 4FG)
  40.      and they can therefore, only be used with one of the listed Super VGA
  41.      adapters.

  43. II. Version 2.02 and MOD5.ZIP provide, in addition, drivers for Model 5
  44. support with:
  45.      - Any VGA boards that use a Western Digital chip set (such as Paradise
  46.      VGA & TopVGA) 
  47.      - Everex Micro Enhancer Deluxe EGA board
  48.      - Boca Basic VGA (Product Code: VGA006) board
  49.      - IBM PS/2 Models 35/40/56/57
