Aztech's Armory Help:
Thank you for purchasing Aztech's Armory. To help you get the most
out of this exciting package, we've included this help file to take you
through launching steps, configuration and game features.
Best of luck defeating your enemies...
1. Configuration
The first necessary step to using the Armory is to set the configuration
file. This can be done by selecting the configuration tab on the level
manager. For the Armory to work properly, you must enter the
appropriate path to the location of your CD-ROM drive containing the
Armory CD (i.e., d:), and the path to your Warcraft II directory
(the location of WAR2.EXE). You can also change the level management
options in this configuration tab. Check boxes to show graphic,
automatically launch War2, install, etc.
2. Level Manager Functions
All game functions are organized in the level manager. The tabs across
the top indicate the number of human players, and contain all relating
scenarios and information. Within that tab you will find:
List of Puds: a list of all puds relating to the number of human players
chosen by the tab.
Map: a snapshot of the scenario's minimap, giving the general layout
of terrain and concentration of forces.
Author name, # of opponents, map size, a list of who created the pud,
how many forces you are up against and the size of the map, measured
in tiles.
Played: check this box to indicate you have played the scenario, or
check the appropriate box in the configuration to automatically
indicate when the scenario has been played.
Difficulty: set your own difficulty rating for the scenario, between 1
(easy) and 10 (difficult).
Rating: Rate the quality of the scenario, 1 (bad) to 10 (good).
Text box: contains author description of the scenario. Scroll through
the text to read missions, history or author/scenario information.
Installed: indicates when you have installed a level.
Buttons
Install Only: Installs the pud file to your WarCraft II directory
specified in your configuration setting.
Install and Play: Installs the pud and automatically launches
WarCraft (you will need to switch to your WarCraft II CD from your
Armory CD, and switch back afterwards). If you wish to avoid
continuous switching back and forth, install all the levels you wish to
play in a session and switch CDs only once.
Start WarCraft Normally: Quits the Armory and starts Warcraft without
installing any more.
3. Example setup
As an example of the above steps, assume you want to play the pud
called 34a in the One Player list. First, go to the configuration tab. Set
the WarCraft II directory, for example: c:\war2, (where "c" is the
location of the file and war2 is the name). Then set the CD-ROM
drive, for example: d:. Check off all boxes you deem appropriate.
Next, select the One Player tab. A list of pud names will appear.
Scroll to the one named 34a and click on it to highlight it. A map
will appear, along with author information, map size and opponents.
You can also read any text that may accompany the scenario.
NOTE: IF A MAP DOES NOT APPEAR, IT IS BECAUSE YOU DID
NOT SPECIFY THE CORRECT CD DRIVE.
Now choose either the Install button (to install the level to your
WarCraft II directory), or the Install and Play button (to install the pud
and automatically launch WarCraft II ¥ you will be prompted to switch
discs with this feature). Then...play! When you complete the scenario,
rate the difficulty and quality of the game, and edit the text box with
comments and a more detailed description of the scenario.
Enjoy!
