  8. Thank you for choosing DataFile software. We're excited about this
  9. latest release of DataFile and hope that it will help you to be more
  10. productive and creative. This Read Me file documents some tips that
  11. may prove helpful when using DataFile.  For details, please refer to
  12. the help file.
  13.  
  14. DataFile is an easy-to-use software for creating form & database
  15. applications. You visually create a form by drag and drop all kind
  16. of fields such as text, check box, choices, calculation or even a sub-
  17. table. When the form is done, you have a complete application for
  18. storing data, searching, printing labels and filling forms.  You can
  19. also export data to other apps such as Word for mail-merging, or
  20. Excel for more complex calculation.

  22. 1. Installing/Uninstalling
  23.      -  For Windows NT 4.0, you must install Service Pack 2 or later
  24.     before install DataFile.
  25.  
  26.      -  After installing, a shortcut to DataFile Filler will be
  27.     created in your Start menu.  You can change it to start the
  28.     Builder instead by edit the shortcut and change the target
  29.     from DFILLER.EXE to DBUILDER.EXE.

  31. 2. Sample datafile
  32.      -  A file called '$sample.dtf' is a PIM application included as
  33.     a sample file.  If you want to use it, we recommend that you
  34.     rename the file first.

  40.      -  Because of the large size of the software, the module to con-
  41.     vert other database file format to DataFile is not included.

  49.      -  The latest version of DataFile is 2.01 which has these new
  50.     features:
  51.           - Adjustable line spacing for multilined text, label/
  52.             context and repeatable field.
  53.           - Grid printing on a pre-printed form. To aid posi-
  54.             tioning the fields in the layout.
  55.           - Improved help file and context-sensitivity.
  56.           - Right alignment all the numeric field.
  57.           - Minor bug fixes.

  59. DataFile is released as shareware. You may use this program for 30
  60. days free as a trial. After that time you are expected to either
  61. register this program, or remove it from your computer.
