  6. 1. Why FOYD?
  7.  
  8. I write FOYD during my lunch breaks, so it is not a "state
  9. of the art" screen saver; it's freeware (I will be happy if 
  10. you send me a postcard) and if somebody wants its C source 
  11. code (I hope you will use it to develop better screen savers) 
  12. I will send it by e-mail for free.

  14. 2. Installation
  15. Win95: right click on FOYD.SCR and choose install. 
  16. WinNT 4.0: copy FOYD.SCR in your Windows NT directory, 
  17. right click on the desktop, select "Properties...", the 
  18. "Display Properties" dialog box should appear;
  19. select "Screen Saver" tab and "Foyd" from the list of 
  20. available screen savers.

  22. 3. Configuration
  23. Win '95:
  24. Right click on the desktop and choose "Properties" from the
  25. menu.
  26. On the "Screen Saver" page use "Settings" to configure FOYD's 
  27. parameters or "Password protected" and "Change..." to set up 
  28. a password.

  30. 4. Notes
  31. - (Win NT) on win NT the screen saver works only on Desktop 
  32. background, if you have a single color background, FOYD effect
  33. is not visible.
  34. - FOYD is happy to work even on my old 100MHz AMD486 but likes powerful
  35. pentiums and 16-24bit colorful video modes (like on my new K6)!
  36. - FOYD, like any other screen saver, can't really save your video,
  37. if you want to save your video (and reduce your bills!), use the 
  38. energy saving features of your monitor and video card... 
  39. ...but let FOYD play for some time!

  44. If you like FOYD tell me by e-mail or (better) with a postcard.
  45. But even if you don't like it I hope you can look at

  48. 6. FOYD's source
  49. FOYD's source code is available for free; you can request it via 
  50. e-mail and I will send it as soon as possible (I cannot check my
  51. home e-mail everyday).
  52. FOYD is built using SCRNSAVE.LIB, that's available with Microsoft's 
  53. compilers.
