  42. To setup your outgoing messages open the MSN
  43. configuration dialog box. Initially none of the
  44. lines are selected. Pushing the "Play" or "Record"
  45. buttons will operate on the default message.
  46. Selecting any line will make the Play/Record
  47. buttons operate on that particular line.

  49. If nothing seems to be working, start the "Sound
  50. Recorder" to verify that your microphone is
  51. selected as input device and that volume settings
  52. are correct.

  54. If you intend to mix your messages with other
  55. voice or music sources, please read the following
  56. info:

  58. The answering machine uses WAV-files to answer
  59. incoming calls. These WAV-files are located in
  60. subdirectory \Program Files\ISDNCID\Answer.

  62. Answer-files are named Welcome.wav for the default
  63. answer, Welcome1.wav for line 1, Welcome2.wav for
  64. line 2 and so on.

  66. All answer files should be of type:

  68.    PCM 8000 Hz 8-bit Mono
  69.    (or ALaw 8000 Hz 8-bit Mono)

  71. The set options dialog box selects the telephony
  72. voice coding system for your country (ALaw for
  73. Europe and uLaw for USA).

  77. To listen to incoming messages or view incoming
  78. faxes, just double click the date/time field.
  79. Faxes are stored as TIFF-files and may be viewed
  80. by any TIFF viewer program like Wang Imaging which
  81. may be downloaded from Microsoft.
  82. Before you can view the faxes you have to create an
  83. association from files with extension TIF to your
  84. preferred viewer. This association is created in 
  85. Windows Explorer or File Manager.

  90. If the checkboxes for Fax reception in the
  91. configuration settings dialog box are disabled
  92. (gray), this means that your ISDN-adapter don't
  93. support T.30 (G3) FAX in hardware or through CAPI.

  95. Some ISDN-adapters reports that they support T.30
  96. FAX although they don't support softfax format.
  97. Only softfax format is supported by this version.
