FAKE20 V.1 by C.Randall on Dec 14, 1993.
-- A anti-lamer hack.
Ok. I have downloaded many demos since getting InterNet and FTP access and
many don't work on my 1200 and '030 setup. This pisses me off, but is
understandable. My computer is quite advanced and 100% backwards
compatability is impossible. I'll live with it.
But, I see a couple of AGA only demos coming out recently. So I download them
assuming they will work. The coders are doing this knowing AGA machines can not
have 68000 and are at least 68020+. But, wo is me.., they assume that *ALL*
AGA machines are 68020! Mine isn't.
My favorite demo so far is the RednexRevivalIntro. When run on my machine,
it comes up with a window saying: "Fat piece of shit, you need a 1200."
Sorry to have to tell you this, lame coder, but I *DO* have a 1200.
This is where FAKE20 comes in. Seems that this particular demo not only checks
to see if AGA is in hardware but checks for bit 1 in the execbase.attnflags
flag. WHY DO YOU CHECK FOR A 68020 AND AGA???? This seems redundant!!!
Well, all FAKE20 does is a simple change of the execbase->attnflags. This is
EXTREMELY simple, but most users would not know execbase from a military base.
So that is why I'm posting this program. Included is source, so you could
recompile (under 'E' of course.) to make sure no viruses are included as bonuses.
Usage: Just run it from CLI (no WB handling).
Now run the AGA demo. Once the demo is done, REBOOT!!!!
This is a HACK (read: don't do this unless absolutely neccessary.)
This program and source is lamer-ware (Public domain).
If your wish to register this program (yeah, right), send a new or used copy
of the RKM's to a known lamer.
(May the future be Degrader free.)
