  17. The future tense (correctly, the classical future) refers, as in English,
  18. to events that will happen after the time of speaking/writing. It
  19. translates the English constructions:
  20.  
  21.      * I will (I'll) watch;
  22.      * I shall watch;
  23.      * I am going to watch.
  24.  
  25. Note that the compound future tense (aller + infinitive) has the same
  26. meaning (but gets less marks in an exam!).

  31. The French future tense is used more logically than English; sometimes
  32. English uses the present tense when something has to take place in the
  33. future - this is called the 'logical future'. Eg:
  34.  
  35.      * When I am grown up, I will own a motorbike
  36.        = Quand je SERAI grand, j'aurai une motocyclette.
  37.  
  38. (The implication in the sentence is 'when I WILL BE grown up'.)

  43. The future tense is very easy because it is regular for most verbs:
  44. take the infinitive (minus the last -e in -re verbs) and add the future 
  45. endings (please refer to the file 'Regular' in VM-French). Take care with 
  46. the 'ils' ending of -ont!!!

  48. The irregulars are: avoir, être, pouvoir, savoir, aller, faire, venir, 
  49. devoir, tenir, vouloir and a few less common verbs.

  51. The slightly irregular verbs (see GrammarText - Present tense) retain
  52. their irregularity where it involves adding a grave accent.

  58. really used in the 'il' form; also some general phrases)

  60. falloir   -> il faudra     (it will be necessary)

  62. plaire    -> ça me plaira  (I will like it)

  64. ça ira!     (I will be alright, etc)
