  2. TO MY DARLING HUSBAND:

  4. I am sending you this letter via this BBS
  5. communications thing, so that you will be sure to
  6. read it.  Please forgive the deception, but I
  7. thought you should know what has been going on at
  8. home since your computer entered our lives two
  9. years ago.  The children are doing well.  Tommy is
  10. seven now and is a bright, handsome boy.  He has
  11. developed quite an interest in the arts.  He drew
  12. a family portrait for a school project, all the
  13. figures were good, and the back of your head is
  14. very realistic.  You should be very proud of him.
  15.  
  16. Little Jennifer turned three in September.  She
  17. looks a lot like you did at that age.  She is an
  18. attractive child and quite smart.  She still
  19. remembers that you spent the whole afternoon with
  20. us on her birthday.  What a grand day for Jenny,
  21. despite the fact that it was stormy and the
  22. electricity was out.

  24. I am doing well.  I went blonde about a year ago,
  25. and discovered that it really is more fun!
  26. George, I mean, Mr. Wilson the department head,
  27. has, uh, taken an interest in my career and has
  28. become a good friend to us all.

  30. I discovered that the household chores are much
  31. easier since I realized that you didn't mind being
  32. vaccumed but that feather dusting made you sneeze.
  33. The house is in good shape.  I had the living room
  34. painted last spring; I'm sure you noticed it.  I
  35. made sure that the painters cut holes in the drop
  36. sheet so you wouldn't be disturbed.

  38. Well, my dear, I must be going.  Uncle George, uh,
  39. Mr. Wilson, I mean, is taking us all on a ski trip
  40. and there is packing to do.  I have hired a
  41. housekeeper to take care of things while we are
  42. away, she'll keep things in order, fill your
  43. coffee cup and bring your meals to your desk, just
  44. the way you like it.  I hope you and the computer
  45. will have a lovely time while we are gone.  Tommy,
  46. Jenny, and I will think of you often.  Try to
  47. remember us while your disks are booting.
