  17. 1.    PURPOSE
  18.  
  19. QMail is a small programm to send Internet eMails from within other 
  20. applications. My own purpose was to send eMails with a minimum of programming 
  21. afford. An easy-to-use utility for all of my applications. In fact, with 
  22. QMail you can send an e-mail with only one single codeline. 
  23. It does not matter if your application ist written in 16 oder 32 bit. 
  24. It only has to run under Windows95.

  26. QMail includes its own DialUp. It dials, sends the considered message 
  27. and closes the connection instantly.

  31. 2.    INSTALLATION
  32.  
  33. Create a new directory for QMail or copy the files QMAIL.* into it.
  34. QMail uses the RASAPI32.DLL. If you do not have this file in your \windows\system
  35. then extract the RASAPI32.ZIP. Note: do not leave the RASAPI32.DLL in the program 
  36. directory!

  38. QMail is self-explaining. If you start QMail without any parameter, 
  39. the main screen appears. You only have to edit the configuration once. 
  40. It is stored in the file QMAIL.INI.

  42. Sender E-Mail:    this is your own return-address
  43. Connect to:    Select a phonebook entry from the combobox
  44. SMTP-Server:    The URL of your provider (e.g. mail.company.com  or  197.0.0.1)
  45. Default port:    normally 25
  46. Username:    Your login name
  47. Password:    Your login password

  49. To be certain that you have configured QMail correct compare the settings with 
  50. your MS-Exchange or MS-Internet Mail or any other program you are using to send 
  51. and receive mails.

  53. Save the settings by clicking the OK Button. 
  54. Now you are ready to use QMail.

  58. 3.    USING QMail WITH YOUR APPLICATION

  60. QMail watches about commandline parameters. Start QMail from within 
  61. your application like you would start any other external program.

  63. The first commandline parameter is required. It has to be the name of the 
  64. file you want to send. The second parameter is optional. It can be the 
  65. eMail address of the recipient.

  72. This would send a mail to the author. The mail neither has a body nor a 
  73. subject. Instead of that the file TESTMAIL.WRI is attached to the message.

  81. This would as well send a mail. But because the recipient is omitted, QMail 
  82. will scan the content of the file. It assumes that the recipient is defined 
  83. IN the file. This is more useful than the first example shows.

  85. Note: QMail will NOT delete your message after sending it!

  89. 4.    REPORT
  90.  
  91. QMail creates a report for each mail sended. The report ist a plain textfile 
  92. located in the program's directory. The name of the report file is QMAIL.LOG. 
  93. You can use this logfile for your application to prove the sending process
  94. afterwards. The logfile is always overwritten.

  98. 5.    SAMPLEMAIL.TXT

  100. This is the possible content of such a textfile discussed above.

  102. TO=         defines the recipient (MUST be defined)
  103.  
  104. CC=        defines a carbon copy, similar to recipient (must not be defined)
  105. CC=        2. carbon copy and so on
  106.  
  107. SUBJECT=    subject of your message (must not be defined)
  108.  
  109. CHARSET=ISO8859    Uses the ISO8859 character set. This is useful for europe.
  110.         If not defined, US ASCII is used.
  111.  
  112. ATTACH=        attachment with full path (must not be defined)
  113. ATTACH=        2. attachment and so on
  114.  
  115.         The rest of the text will automatically become
  116.         the body of your message.

  118. Note:        All properties are written in capital letters!

  142. You have got the full product, not a restricted shareware or demo. 
  143. USE IT AS IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK! I do not give ANY warranty for QMail!

  145. WARNING: QMail can increase your telephone bill multiple times! 
  146. Do not send any sexually orientated material with QMail until you 
  147. are 18 years of age or older. No animals were harmed during the development 
  148. of this software. May cause irritability, sleeplessness or warts after 
  149. prolonged use.

  153. 7.    REGISTRATION

  155. QMail is freeware until I want to earn money with it. Because I am 
  156. earning money enough every day, this is not my main interest.
  157. If you read this, you can use it as you like for your private purposes. 
  158. If you want to share QMail with a commercial application, please 
  159. contact me.

  161. If you like QMail, please send me a picture postcard from where you 
  162. life (yes, really! a good old postcard!). You can send me cheques with 
  163. any amount as well (but not less than US$ 10.000,-) or your - not expired - 
  164. credit card (you will wonder how often I'm out for shopping...).

  166. If you do NOT like QMail, please copy all files (QMAIL.*) to a disk,
  167. wrap it with tissue paper, enclose a pair of rubber stockings and give
  168. the package away to the next fetish guy in your neighbourhood.
