  1. WELCOME TO PEDIGREE FOR WINDOWS

  3. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
  4.  
  5. 1.  Create a temporary directory and copy all
  6.     the files to it. Example-  C:\SETUP
  7.  
  8. 2.  Go to Program Manager and select File | Run.
  9.  
  10. 3.  Type the directory you created and add '\setup.exe'
  11.     at the prompt. If you used the Example it would
  12.     look like C:\SETUP\setup
  13.  
  14. 4.  The install program uses the default directory of
  15.     C:\PEDIGREE for the destination. You can use or create
  16.     another directory or accept the default.
  17.  
  18. 5.  A new program group and icon will be created
  19.     for Pedigree.
  20.  
  21. 6.  Add (or modify) AUTOEXEC.BAT with the following
  22.     line:
  23.     C:\DOS\SHARE.EXE /L:500 /F:5100
  24.  
  25.     Then REBOOT for changes to take effect.
  26.  
  27. Pedigree is a shareware product.  You may use
  28. Pedigree for 30 days without obligation.  If you
  29. plan to use it beyond 30 days, PLEASE register 
  30. the program.  The cost is only $29.95, which is
  31. more than reasonable for all it does.  Registration
  32. benefits include: Manual, Registered version disk,
  33. and notification of future releases.  I hope you 
  34. enjoy using Pedigree.  Any questions or comments

  37. WARNING MESSAGES
  38.  
  39. Some users may experience the following messages:
  40.  
  41. I)  Share.exe not installed
  42.  
  43. Add the following line to the autoexec.bat
  44. C:\DOS\SHARE.EXE /L:500 /F:5100
  45. (If you use a memory manager i.e. QEMM, MEMMAKER,etc.
  46. run the optimizer to load SHARE.EXE into upper memory.)
  47. After making the above change to autoexec.bat, you
  48. must REBOOT your system for the changes to take
  49. effect.
  50. If you are not sure whether SHARE.EXE is loaded, go to
  51. DOS prompt and type in  mem /c | more
  52. this will show all the programs/drivers loaded
  53. in the various regions of memory. If SHARE is not
  54. listed, it is not loaded.  This sometimes happens
  55. to people with many drivers loaded.  If you see
  56. a message regarding insuffient memory when the
  57. computer is loading the autoexec.bat you may
  58. have to manually type share.exe /L:500 /F:5100
  59. at the DOS prompt.  Luckily, this is a very rare
  60. occurence, but I mention it just in case it applies
  61. to you.

  64. II) Cannot find VBRUN300.DLL (occurs during execution)
  65.  
  66. VBRUN300.DLL is the Visual Basic 3.0 Run-Time DLL.
  67. Since the file is nearly 400K in size, it was not
  68. included to conserve your download time. If you
  69. cannot find this file on your drive (usually it's in
  70. the WINDOWS\SYSTEM Directory), you can download it
  71. from the Microsoft Library. On CompuServe type:
  72. GO MSL, and search for the file.
