  15. To explore Scarthorpe, you will need to move from location to
  16. location by entering North, South, East or West. You need only
  17. use the first letter, ie, N for North. Follow all instructions
  18. by pressing Enter.
  19.  
  20. To give commands, use simplified English. The program has a large
  21. vocabulary including UP, DOWN, ENTER, LEAVE, IN, OUT, CROSS,
  22. EXAMINE, LOOK, EAT, DRINK and many others. It is also possible
  23. to string commands together, for example "TAKE DUNGAREES AND GO
  24. NORTH" or "KILL FAN AND TAKE TRAP". Remember to press Enter after
  25. each instruction.

  27. There are also a number of special functions designed to help
  28. you. For example "TAKE" or "T" will allow you to pick up a useful
  29. object and carry it with you.  Enter "DROP" and you will leave
  30. the object behind. If you are unsure of which items you are
  31. carrying, enter "I" for an inventory. To see how well you are
  32. doing, enter "SCORE" to be given points out of 22. If your game
  33. is going badly, you can abandon it by entering "QUIT".

  35. If you wish to save the game to be continued later, enter "SAVE"
  36. and follow the on-screen instructions. To re-load your game, load
  37. the original cassette, move to the first location and enter
  38. "LOAD" and follow the on-screen instructions.

  86. To load Urban Upstart enter LOAD "upstart" CODE. CODE is obtained
  87. by pressing both shift keys until a flashing 'E' appears, then
  88. pressing CODE which is located on the 'I' key.
