Only for expert use!
CoMa is suitable for most modems, however not all of us are perfect!
(We admit it). To allow free use for dial strings etc, a button is
available in "parameter general" called expert. By activating this
button you will be able to insert your own AT commands. Be sure you
know what you are doing before you start. HELPFUL HINT: Make a note of
the default values BEFORE you change them!
But please, be shure what you do if you make any change to the default
value!
Expertmode in Preferences "General"
Init- und Exitstring
On line 2 dependant upon the modem it could be ATZ, ATZ1 or ATZ2. This
field under no circumstances should contain an ATZ for most of the BZT
registered modems (Germany users only!). If this happens an error
message "modem reports error" will appear when you attempt
transmission. In which case alter line 2 to AT.
In the EXIT-line you can put in the commands to be sent at the end of
the transmission for normal cases ATZ .
Expertmode in Preferences "Fax"
Dialling commands
To cover all eventualities we have created four different dialling
strings.
Send
If your modem is connected directly to your telephone line it might be
alright to leave the command lines as they are. If you have got an
extension between modem and telephone you have to switch off the pause
for the free tone (X3) and also the line dial (0) and include a pause
(,).
Signs given in brackets are AT commands and every modem should
understand them. The dialling string for a modem on an extension
should look as follows:
ATX3D0,<#>
If you work on a Macintosh with MagiCMac mention the Mac does not use
a DTR connection and the modem has to be made to
ignore this signal with the command &D0! You will very probably have
to configure your modem without DTR as well. But CoMa sets the "&D0"
as default!
No dial
Sometimes one would like to transmit a fax during a telephone call,
depending of course if the other side has got a combi fax. CoMa should
not re-dial the telephone number now and the "dial tone detect" should
be de-activated, because the modem would disconnect immediately if it
does not hear a free tone. The command for this according to Hayes is
"X1" or "X3". The dialling command should look as follows:
ATX3D
If you use an ISDN modem from Zyxel or ELSA there can be a problem if
you work in voice-mode and fax-on-demand by a PIN is started. If you
use such a modem described, you should use the following commands:
ATX3A
If the normal use is like the next section, it must be ATX3D .
If you activate the button "without dial" in the main dialogue box the
modem will start without dialling to transmit the chosen fax pages.
This can only function if you are using a phone connected via your
modem.
Receive
We have created a dialling string if you want to give your modem
special commands for the reception of fax pages. In 99% of the cases
our pre-adjustments should do the job.
Polling
Some firms and institutions offer a new service for owners of fax
machines. You can call with your fax and call up fax pages. Your modem
will send a poll request and the called machine sends the relevant fax
pages. Is the remote machine a pure poll-sender, this works with class
2 fax modem.
Mention: Polling from your computer works only with CoMa Professional!
Expertmode in the dialogbox preferences "Voice"
Init
This command string will be sent to the modem after the switch to
voice mode. You can use here the AT-command to adjust the loudness of
the modem-speaker (L1...L5).
