RECORD REVIEWS
by DEF KLF from E.K.O.
------------
DINOSAUR jr
Where you been
Blanco & Negro/Warner
I enjoyed very much the previous album
from Jay Mascis/Dinosaur Jr ( Green-
mind ). So, I expected a lot from this
new one.
Jay Mascis still sings with his tremu-
lous voice, he still plays the guitar
roughly. Songs are still very catchy.
But two things changed:
-That's not as original as the previous
album,it is a bit the same thing.
-And it seems that Jay M. tried to show
he was able to sing loud and play quick
but that is not what we want from him,
we like him when his voice is near
cries and without a noisy guitar.
If you liked "Green Mind",you will like
"Where you been" but you won't feel the
same thing that with "G.M".
If you want to buy an album of Dinosaur
Jr,buy "Green Mind".
But inspite of buying "Incesticide" of
Nirvana buy "Where you been".

JAMES BROWN
Universal James
Scotti Bros/Phonogram
It's been a long time that albums from
mister dynamite were not interesting.
But it didn't change anything about
the soul brother number one. He could
do anything except beating his wife, he
stayed a living legend.
But this time, his new album is worth
listening. Six songs were produced by
Jazzy B, the man behind SOUL 2 SOUL, so
some songs really sound rap. That's why
I'm saying this album is interesting in
James'career. There are also some songs
we think we already know them because
it is the same as the one he made 20
years ago.
But my favorite song of the album is
7 minutes long and is called "Momemts",
it is with soft-african-beats,and James
talking like a preacher explaining his
confused vision of life.

RAGE AGAISNT THE MACHINE
Rage agaisnt the machine
Epic/Sony
They come from Los Angeles, and I hate
Californian rock bands.
Their hardcore fanclub must be skate-
boarders, and it really doesn't mean it
is a good band.
The singer doesn't sing but raps ( so
is he a rapper ? ).
It sounds a bit like "Red Hot Chilly
Peppers", but it is more original,
there is no lame-slow-romantic song to
do singles for the charts nor macho
cliche videos.
The album is full of great catchy
songs.
The band name is good, the leader voice
is great.
Conclusion: Their " Killing in the name
of" song, is fucking good.
You need to listen the leader screaming
over noisy guitars.
FUCK YOU I WON'T DO,
WHAT THEY TELL ME...
