  15. <p>     DIED. KNUT ANDERS HAUKELID, 82, World War II resistance soldier;
  16. in Oslo. During the most desperate hours of World War II, Haukelid
  17. was one of the nine Norwegian commandos who nipped the Nazis'
  18. incipient A-bomb project by parachuting into the treacherous
  19. terrain near a "heavy water" plant and sabotaging the facility.
  20. Code-named "Bonzo," the New York-born fighter also helped sink
  21. a ferry bearing heavy water to Germany. The exploits of Haukelid
  22. and his comrades were memorialized in the 1966 film Heroes of
  23. Telemark.
