  25. To effectively use WinRamTurbo, you must realize that if your computer has
  26. existing hardware or software conflicts, you first must resolve those problems
  27. before you use WinRamTurbo. WinRamTurbo does not resolve these conflicts for
  28. you, it is a performance enhancer for computer systems which do not have

  52. 2. How WinRamTurbo Works
  53. ================================================================================

  55. WinRamTurbo is a System Memory Management tool which releases allocated
  56. memory that has been fragmented and left behind once an application has
  57. been shutdown which eliminates trash build up, keeps memory free and clean
  58. and ends inefficient or sporadic memory access as seen when switching
  59. among the different concurrent running applications. A swapfile
  60. (or Virtual Memory) is important because often, the programs we use require
  61. more RAM than we have. Instead of returning an error message and refusing to
  62. run, the program can use the swapfile for the extra memory that is needed.
  63. The swapfile acts as pseudo-RAM by using some of the hard disk space to store
  64. the data that would normally need to be stored in the RAM.
  65.  
  66. WinRamTurbo optimizes the file and disk cache to allow sustained rapid access
  67. of cached data. A disk cache (also called Virtual Cache or just simply VCache)
  68. is important for improving hard disk performance. The disk cache caches or
  69. stores data from the hard disk in the much faster RAM so that if a program
  70. requires that piece of data, it can just access the disk cache for it, instead
  71. of loading from the hard disk.

  73. The disk cache can also read ahead by copying more data than what the program
  74. asked for in the assumption that the following consecutive data segment will
  75. be needed next. These are some of the methods employed by the disk cache to
  76. improve your hard disk performance.

  78. By default, Windows grabs most of the unused RAM at bootup to use as disk cache.
  79. Then, it is supposed to release the RAM used for the dynamic disk cache when a
  80. program requires it. This is a rather fine idea as the unused RAM is better
  81. utilized as a disk cache rather than just left there.

  83. Memory is the main performance problem with Windows operating systems. Running
  84. out of RAM or inefficient use of memory slows your system down to a crawl,
  85. especially after surfing the Internet for extended periods of time or when you
  86. use graphic intensive games or programs!

  88. WinRamTurbo reduces General Protection Fault (GPF)/Page Fault errors, sometimes
  89. referred to as the "Blue Screen of Death", which would normally cause system
  90. crashes, rebooting, and loss of data, if memory was not properly optimized!
