The initial phase of the Battle of Britain has been problematic. Our forward installations have taken significant damage, and the Germans now appear to be moving forward, striking at more significant sector airfields. We must protect the airfields in order to ensure Fighter Command's continuing viability as a fighting force that can repel a potential invasion.
