In an Atlantic type coastline the action of the sea creates bays, eroded out

of soft rock, between projecting headlands of harder rock (A). Then the

waves attack the headlands from both sides (B), forming caves, arches, and

sea stacks. Eventually the headlands are completely eroded away (C),

leaving a series of undulating cliffs.
