  1. Thank you for using EditCON Version 1.0 by Charlie Wiederhold.

  3. This program is the first in a future line of .CON editors for Duke Nukem 3D.
  4. In later versions, more options will be included, and better overall quality
  5. will be implemented. This version is to be used ONLY with the Duke Nukem
  6. 3D Shareware Version 1.1 (Note: This file edits ONLY the USER.CON file.)

  8. First of all, the thing that makes this program unique, is you really don't
  9. have to store backups of your .CON files to use it. A default reset option
  10. is implemented into the program. Therefore, if anyting goes wrong, just run
  11. this program, and select the Reset Defaults option. But, I guarantee that
  12. nothing will go wrong when using selections within this program. If you
  13. attempt to edit your USER.CON file on your own, and something goes wrong,
  14. use this program to correct it. (Note: As stated before, this program will NOT
  15. correct problems with the other two .CON files. In later versions this will
  16. be included, but it is not in this version.)

  18. Files needed to run this program:
  19.   EDITCON.EXE
  20.   CURRENT.VAL
  21.  
  22. To use this program, simply copy these two files into the same directory as
  23. your Duke Nukem 3D Shareware Version 1.1 files. That is all! Then type
  24. EDITCON to run. The menus *should* be self explanitory, but to help you out
  25. in case of any confusion, a listing of all the options is listed below.

  27. 1) Player Info
  28.    A) Max Player Health  *The players maximum REGULAR health limit
  29.    B) Max Atomic Health  *The MAXIMUM health limit
  30.    C) Start Armor Health *How much armor the player starts with
  31.  
  32. 2) Weapon Info
  33.    A) Max Ammo           *Sets the maximum ammor for each weapon
  34.    B) Weapon Strength    *Sets the strength of each weapon
  35.    C) Blast Radius       *Sets the blast radius for the RPG and pipe bomb
  36.  
  37. 3) Edit Boss             *Changes the strength of the end Boss
  38.                           (Too hard? Turn it down. Too easy? Turn it up!)
  39.  
  40. 4) Reset Defaults        *Resets all the values back to the standard amounts
  41.                           from 3D Realms. Especially valuable if you mess up
  42.                           your USER.CON file.

  44. As I stated before, it is not necessary to back up your USER.CON file when
  45. using this program, as long as you are using DN3D Shareware Version 1.1 and
  46. this program only. If you choose to edit the .CON files on your own... ALWAYS
  47. make backups in another directory, or rename them.

  49. If you are going to play Duke Nukem 3D over the modem or a serial cable, both
  50. sides MUST have the EXACT same .CON files for the game to work. Other wise the
  51. game will become out of synch, or some other wierd things might happen.
  52. EditCON makes it rather easy to guarantee that both sides will have the same
  53. .CON files if you both use it, and make the same changes.

  56. (there are none that I know of), contact me and tell me. If you like this
  57. program, that great!! Tell me about it, and give it to your friends who have
  58. Duke Nukem 3D. This software is free. I do not want any money for it, and
  59. distribute it with the hope that it will be left in it's original condition.
