  30. terrible ecological 
  31. price to pay for

  36. battle to save 
  37. the rainforests -  
  38. but his name has
  39. now become 
  40. synonymous with 
  41. green concerns.

  43. inspiration to 
  44. millions of people

  46. the degradation of 
  47. the most precious 
  48. land on earth

  52. just about money;
  53. it is also about 
  54. politics and power, 
  55. both local and 
  56. global. In the end 
  57. the coalition of 
  58. big business and 
  59. corrupt govern-
  60. ment proved

  62. man, even one as 
  63. strong-willed as

  67. father and son,
  68. who murdered
  69. Mendes were
  70. convicted and
  71. sentenced to19

  73. This was a 
  74. small victory
  75. for the tappers'
  76. cause but the
  77. destruction of
