SISFMT 1.0
RASIS Floppy Disk Formatter
SisFmt is supplied with RASIS, which is (c) Rand Nowell, RaLin
Enterprises, and as such falls under all the Copyright, Distribution
and Disclaimer statements found in the file RASIS.DOC.
SisFmt is supplied fully functional, and has no limitations on use.
I do request that you do NOT distribute SisFmt as a separate program.
However, if you decide that RASIS does not suit your needs, but you
would like to continue to use SisFmt, you are welcome to do so.
SisFmt may be run two ways:
1. Called from the External Menu in RASIS
2. Called from the DOS command line.
The only difference in the two methods, is that when SisFmt is called
from the command line, it will Clear the Screen. When called from
RASIS, the screen is not cleared.
SISFMT will NOT format your hard drive.
There are no parameters to give, SisFmt is entirely interactive with the
user once it has been started. So, the command to use SisFmt is very
simply SISFMT <ENTER>
SisFmt will present a Window, in which it will prompt for information, and
display all its messages.
These will be covered in the order presented:
o Drive to Format (A or B):
Simply press the letter corresponding to the floppy drive
you wish to format.
o Checking Disk....
SisFmt checks to see if any files exist on the selected floppy,
if so, you will be asked if it should continue. Pressing N will abort
the formatting.
o Disk Type? (1=360 2=1.2 3=720 4=1.44)
Here you specify the format you wish to do
o Verify? (Y or N)
If you wish SisFmt to verify each track as its formatted, answer Yes.
This will slow down the formatting a small amount.
o Volume Label?
If you would like a volume label written to the disk, enter it here.
Press ENTER to NOT write a volume label.
o Insert Disk and Press <ENTER>
Insert the floppy to be formatted, and press the ENTER key.
o Drive Type is:
SisFmt will attempt to determine the type of floppy drive, and
display this information.
o Message....
As the formatting process takes place, SisFmt will display which
track is being formatted, and the percentage done. If Verify is
ON, it will display a V in place of % when verifying.
If there is an error, the error message will be displayed instead.
o Format Another? (Y or No)
You can format another floppy by answering Yes, or exit back to DOS
or the calling program.
NOTE:
Pressing ESC at any time OTHER than during the format process, will
abort the program.
I hope you find SisFmt a useful addition to the RASIS package!
