  1.    This file contains the QUICK SETUP info for LORD 3.55.

  3.    For more info, after unzipping LORD.ZIP read:

  5.    * LORD.DOC ------- Complete docs.  Long winded and sort of boring.
  6.    * PLASTIC.DOC ---- How to register this game by credit card online.
  7.    * REGISTER.DOC --- The file to print and fill out to register via U.S mail
  8.    * LORDSTRC.PAS --- Tips and source for 3rdparty developers (yeah!)

  10.    ** THIS IS A COMPLETE STARTUP OR COPY OVER UPGRADE. **

  13.    ▒ TO PLAY LOCALLY, TO SEE IF YOU LIKE THE GAME ENOUGH TO INSTALL ▒

  15.    Unzip LORD.ZIP somewhere.   
  16.  
  17.    Run LORDCFG.EXE.  It will automatically create the LORD.DAT file.

  19.    Type START 0 from DOS, node 0 has been pre-defined as a local node.

  21.    Enjoy the game.

  23.    ░ TO UPGRADE AN OLD LORD GAME OF 3.25 OR *NEWER* ░

  27.    Edit START.BAT and the top lines to reflect your path and drive letter.
  28.    (Or skip that part, but make sure when you run START.BAT you are *IN*
  29.    the LORD directory.)

  43.    Use the (S)etup a node option.  This will allow you to configure baud
  44.    rate, locked baud rate, com port, special port address's if needed, the
  45.    drop file type your BBS writes and where to find it.

  47.    Set up EACH node your BBS has.

  49.    (Lazy people - when you enter a node number that has not been configured,
  50.     it defualts to node 1's settings - so it's really not that big a chore)

  52.    You CAN multiple nodes with one node setting, if they all work the same
  53.    way.  (set comport to be read from the drop file)

  56.    **IMPORTANT**

  58.    To run LORD, you must run the START.BAT file.  4DOS users must CHANGE
  59.    the name of this file, it's a reserved word.

  64.    If you are running START.BAT from a drop file, add the word CALL in front
  65.    of it or it will not return to that batch file.

  73.    Single node systems:  Always run it as 'node 1' like this:

  86.    If a user with RIPterm 2.0 tries to play LORD, it will work, but RIPterm
  87.    will convert the icons incorrectly.  (It uses the standard pallete only)

  89.    BUT.. We have a solution.  Let interested users download LORDRIP2.ZIP,
  90.    a file that is NOT included in this archive, (only the 1.54 version is,
  91.    because at this time 2.0 is not very popular) but you can download
  92.    it from my system, or check major online services.

  94.    LORDRIP2.ZIP contains BMP's of the orginal artwork correctly converted.
  95.    Nothing is new, just compatible with 2.0.  (Oh, of course the BMP
  96.    version is not compatible with pre 2.0 Ripterm)

  101.    A few sysops have asked me to include something they can put up on their
  102.    logon screen to let users know LORD 3.55 has arrived there - I have
  103.    enclosed BBSLORD.ANS for this purpose, use as you will.

  106.    NOTE:  If you run Lantastic - After you're done setting up, run
  107.    the batch file DOATTRIB.BAT from the LORD dir.  (It will change 4 files
  108.    to Read Only for compatiblity) (NOATTRIB.BAT un-does this)

  111.    YET ANOTHER NOTE:  The 3rdparty.dat file is now created automatically
  112.    *IF* it doesn't exist.  So it's safe to do a direct copy over your old
  113.    LORD dir when upgrading, you won't lose your IGM list.
