Thank you for trying WoodyWare's InterBBS Phase 1 . Below are the
files you should find in this archive that are part of Phase 1 :
PMAIL3.EXE - Phase 1 InterBBS driver exec
NODE.DAT - Example Node.Dat for your uplinks and downlinks
MAIL.CFG - Phase1 configuration file sample
PHASE1.DOC - Phase 1 Documentation
HOW PHASE1 WORKS:
=================
PMAIL3.EXE will take PROFILE.TMP, MATCH.TMP & *.PSG created by PROMATCH when
someone enters data and zip them into an archive (*.MTC). A netmail file
attach message will then be created and the file sent to the sites listed in
your node.dat. PMAIL3.EXE will also check your incoming Fidonet files
directory for *.MTC files. If found, it will toss PROFILE.TMP,MATCH.TMP &
*.PSG files into your database.
WHAT IS INTERBBS?
=================
The InterBBS protocol driver PMAIL3.EXE allows you to exchange data between
other BBS systems. The main rule to remember is : DON'T MAKE IT HARDER THAN
IT IS. Once you've edited your node.dat and mail.cfg the program will take
care of the rest (more about node.dat and mail.cfg later in the docs). You
don't have to have "hubs" to network your data, you can network with BBSes as
close or as far away as you want. Since there are no centralized hubs that
restrict where and how you pass data, it's basically your responsibility to
establish networks. You can hook up here at 1:3607/20 or 1:3607/21 but since
we live in such a small area not much data would be passed from here. I'd
suggest to form networks netmailing other BBSes with similar interest as yours
or posting echomail in appropriate message areas.
ABOUT NODE.DAT
----------------
Your node.dat contains your uplink and downlink addresses (NOT YOUR OWN
ADDRESS). It must be in the following format:
ZONE
NET
NODE
POINT
etc.
For example for a BBS participating InterBBS:
1
3607
21
0
1
3607
20
0
REMEMBER THIS IS THE FILE FOR YOUR UP/DOWNLINKS FOR PROMATCH.
ABOUT MAIL.CFG
--------------
This config file is read by PMAIL3.EXE which is the heart of
the Phase 1 networking part of PROMATCH. It must be in the following format:
YOUR NAME
YOUR ZONE
YOUR NET
YOUR NODE
YOUR POINT
PATH TO YOUR PROMATCH2 DIRECTORY
PATH FOR OUTBOUND .MSG MESSAGES
PATH FOR INCOMING FILES AREA
For Example for a BBS participating in an InterBBS network:
Jerry Woody
1
3607
20
0
c:\SBBS\XTRN\PROMATCH
c:\fd\mail
c:\fd\file
RUNNING PMAIL3.EXE
-------------------
You should run PMAIL3.EXE during your nightly maintenance event.
PMAIL3 will handle all outgoing file attaches and incoming files and add them
to your databases, and send outgoing netmail and get incoming netmail.
PMAIL3.EXE reads the following files : Mail.cfg, Node.dat
! You will need PKZIP and PKUNZIP to archive the data files.
! Phase 1 InterBBS is included free with the PROMATCH archive.
! You can run phase 1 InterBBS with phase 2 and phase 3.
