┌─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ INTRO ├>─┐
Yeah, finally... A public beta release of WarezTag!
Perhaps you're wondering "Why this release? I thought it wasn't supposed to
be released?". Well, you are not entirely correct; most of the programs
we create will be released, but only when they are 99% bug-free. The true
answer for this release is very simple: THERE ARE LAME RIPPERS AT WORK!
Yep, some jerks have stolen the whole concept of WarezTag! and named it
'BytezTag'. This was a complete rip-off. After we asked to change their
concept and design, the answer was: "We couldn't think of anything else!".
The poor bastards, after Easttag & RA_2_TAG nobody has ever created an
original lister (exceptions made). Now we, the EOH crew, come up with
another cool idea (April/May 1995!) and the first thing they do is a 100%
rip!! Even the helpfiles were 101% ripped.
To prevent them getting all the credits for the program's look and user
interface, we have decided to make a public beta out of WarezTag!
The only thing I have to say to those rippers is: "Be creative, let your
mind flow on other things than ripping ideas of already existing (or in
progress) programs. Or, at least have the guts to ask & credit the
originators."
The correct code for the zipfile is: TheOriginal! Mind the case sensitivity!
├──────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ LOOK AND FEEL DISCLAIMER ├>─┤
A number of applications have a similar interface to that of one or more
Synopsis/EOH Utilities or configuration Utilities or FILE_ID.DIZ designs.
Requests for permission to use the same user interface style are received
quite frequently. The stock reply has been and still is, "Yes, provided
the following is included in the program and documentation's credit
section: 'Original visual interface concept designed by XtreeMan &
Synopsis. Used with permission.'".
This ALSO goes for programs which can be seen at Edge of Honor and are
not available for download. These are programs which are currently under
development by us.
People who haven't asked for permission, nor credited appropriately:
* Bass with BytezTag
* Phenomic with his Who's Online
* SerialKiller/Pope-X with their RAF-Tag

├───────────────────────────────────────────<┤ Installation Notes 'n Hints ├>─┤
Right, that was the 'Legal' stuff i guess :-). Now up to the real thing;
The installation of WarezTag! A step by step installation can be found in
the 'WT!INST.DOC' file. All the other important stuff will be mentioned
and explained to you in this doc. If you still don't get it, send a mail to:
helpme@eoh.idn.nl with correct description of the problem, we will reply
only if it is not explained in the doc's..
├──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ TAG!.EXE ├>─┤
This is the main WarezTag! executable. Commandline parameters are
as follows:

followed by an area selection within the selected group.
-? : This brings up the HelpScreen ..
-H : Read Above!
[input] : You can specify defaults to use.. just place them
directly after the command, for example a newfiles-search
defaulting to 7 days:
TAG! -C*P -N*N -SN 7 ... Fairly simple.
Here are the online keys you can use:

ShortName : A three-letter abbreviation for your BBS's name (For Quick-
Info adding! - see "UL Processor")
LogFilePath : This is the path where all log-files will be written to.
TempDir #1 : The temporary download-holding directory (for CDROM copies,
@list and dsz-logfiles!) .. Node-specific!

÷÷ Upload ÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷
UploadArea : The default area where public uploads will be sent.
PrivateArea : The PRIVATE upload area number.
Abort Path : The directory where aborted uploads will be moved.

per KB size of an upload. 100% is normal.
%KB (Unpacked) : The percentage of Kilobytes credit the user will receive
for unpacked (unarchived) uploads, based on KB size.
Usefull if you dislike .GIF files or .JPG files, just
use 50% or something :)
Direct Creds : The KB and time credits of the uploads are substracted
of the today 'download KB' and added to the today 'time
limit'.
This means it could happen you get a Negative todayKB
and a negative TimeUsed. NO worries, this only goes
for this day!.
Very easy for users to 'upgrade' their level for a
moment, for example when they just need those extra
205kb. Just upload 205kb and you have an extra 205kb
download limit.
Minimal Date : The minimum date on an uploaded file to be accepted.
% To Old : Percentage of upload credits/time to give for files
which fail the date check. 40 to 60% is usefull.

** Note: Of course all Dizzes has protection against
destructive PCB @-codes, such as @HANGUP@ **
** Note: Failing detection of FILE_ID.PCB/FILE_ID.ANS
all modes will default to FILE_ID.DIZ **
Default Desc : The description to use for files which don't contain
any FILE_ID.??? descriptions.
Usefull is: "No description found, credits nuked"
DIZ Stripfile : This file contains the lines to strip from FILE_ID.???
descriptions; For the layout see the Example File
REMLINE.LST
** Note: PCB and ANSI codes are automaticly stripped while
checking for strips, so they are not necessary in
the StripFile **
AddFile (ZIP) : This is a **ZIPFILE** which contains the files to ADD to
the uploaded archive.
BannerFile : This file will be used as the archive-stamp.
StripFile (DAT): This file is similar in form to the 'CLEAR.DAT' found in
Qzip!/DoZip!. It is used for removing unwanted files from
the archive itself (BBS adds etc). Only known files at the
END of the archive could be removed!
Add QuickInfo : This function is used to add special 0-byte files to
ZIP archives, each containing comments with file
statistic information in them. Check it out.
Diz Unpack ZIP : The decompression commandline to unpack files from
ZIP archives.
Diz Unpack ARJ : Read above!

├─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ FASTBASE! ├>─┤
WarezTag! uses a much faster and more efficient FileBase format than
the RA-FDB and default FILES.BBS formats. It is quite simple to convert
to FastBase, granted you run a RA 2.xx/2.5x system, using FILES.BBS or
the RA-FDB:
** Note: By this point, make sure you have set the FASTBASE environment
variable. (IE: SET FASTBASE=C:\RA\WAREZTAG\FB) **
Conversion/Update Utilities: ** IMPORTANT! **
CREATEFB.EXE - This program will create/update the necessary FastBase files
from pre-existing extended FILES.BBS format description lists.
This program is also necessary if you change a FILES.BBS to keep the
FastBase up-to-date, normally it will only recreate area's that are changed.
In basic terms, if you update/modify a FILES.BBS you need to run CREATEFB
on that specific area.
For example your upload area must be updated everytime a user logs out.
Just play a little with it, you'll getch the drift very easy...
Commandline parameters are as follows:
÷÷ CREATEFB.EXE <Options> [Area-Area] [,Area] ÷÷
Options:
-A : Force to remake the area
-B : Batchfile mode.
-? : This brings up the HelpScreen ..
-H : Read Above!
[Area-Area]
This is to specify the areas to process. For example, if you wanted to
convert areas 1 to 250, you would run CREATEFB 1-250. Example #2, if you
want to convert all the areas again run CREATEFB -A. Example #3, if you
want to update your upload area (for example area 12) run CREATEFB 12.
[,Area]
Individual areas may also be processed, by seperating the area
numbers by commas. For example, for processing area 15, 435, and 789,
you would run CREATEFB 15,435,789. Example #2, if you want a range of areas
to be processed you would run CREATEFB 10-100,110,119,140-400,854.
** Note : When you run CREATEFB without any parameters, it will UPDATE
only the changed areas (i.e. FILES.BBS date/size has changed).
** Hint : Place your entire \FASTBASE\ directory on a RAMDRIVE! This will
improve the performance a lot! For about 25.000 to 30.000 files
you'll need a 2MB ramdrive (clustersize 512 bytes), not much eh?!
RA2FB.EXE - This will convert the RA FDB (2.xx/2.5x) to FastBase.
Mostly this util is used only once to create the FastBase.
Commandline parameters are as follows:
÷÷ RA2FB.EXE <Options> [Area-Area] [,Area] ÷÷
-B : No FastBase files, just FILES.BBS (if you have changed
descriptions or whatever)
-? : This brings up the HelpScreen ..
-H : Read Above!
[Area-Area]
This is to specify the areas to process. For example, if you wanted to
convert areas 1 to 250, you would run RA2FB 1-250.
[,Area]
Individual areas may also be processed, by seperating the area
numbers by commas. For example, for processing area 15, 435 and 789,
you would run RA2FB 15,435,789.
** Note : For CD-ROM files, the FILES.BBS lists will be placed in the
LISTS directory of the FastBase, as FB<area>.LST. This applies for
both CREATEFB and RA2FB. **
FB2RA.EXE - This will convert the Fastbase to RA FDB (2.xx/2.5x).
Commandline parameters are as follows:
÷÷ FB2RA.EXE <Options> [Area-Area] [,Area] ÷÷
-? : This brings up the HelpScreen ..
-H : Read Above!
[Area-Area]
This is to specify the areas to process. For example, if you wanted to
convert areas 1 to 250, you would run FB2RA 1-250.
[,Area]
Individual areas may also be processed, by seperating the area
numbers by commas. For example, for processing area 15, 435 and 789,
you would run FB2RA 15,435,789.
├─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ UTILITIES ├>─┤
By now, you might be wondering about support for the FastBase format
beyond the conversion utilities and WarezTag! itself. Well, included
in the release are:
├──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ ALL!.EXE ├>─┤
ALL.EXE - An extremely fast All/NewFiles list generator, which outputs
to ALLFILES.LST, and NEWFILES.LST. Usage:
÷÷ ALL.EXE <Options> [Area-Area] [,Area] ÷÷
-S
: Only included areas with equal to or less than the specified
security level. (LIST-SECURITY)
-N<days> Restrict newfiles-list to specified number of days.
-? : This brings up the HelpScreen ..
-H : Read Above!
[Area-Area]
This is to specify the areas to process. For example, if you wanted to
convert areas 1 to 250, you would run ALL 1-250.
[,Area]
Individual areas may also be processed, by seperating the area
numbers by commas. For example, for processing area 435,15 and 789,
you would run ALL 15,435,789.
** Header/Footer filenames for customized file-lists, and their macros:
A_ABEGIN Allfiles area Header
A_AEND Allfiles area Footer
A_BEGIN Allfiles header
A_END Allfiles bottom
N_ABEGIN Newfiles area Header
N_AEND Newfiles area Footer
N_BEGIN Newfiles header
N_END Newfiles bottom
The following macros can be used:
$A# Area number
$AF Number of files in area
$AB Total of bytes located in that area
$AD The latest filedate in that area
$AN The area name/description
$AU The latest upload date of a file in the area
$EA Total amount of KB listed

$NB Total amount of new KB listed
$NF Total amount of newfiles listed
$D Current date
$T Current time
$V Current version number
** Extra options are:
$_____<code> this will display the code padded with spaces (use as
many _'s as you like). If the field is longer than the
defined number of spaces, it will be truncated.
Text fields are always justified to the left, and
numerical fields are always justified to the right.
$<code>% this will transform the amounts to include dots, like
the number 6455323 will become 6.455.323
├─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ MOVE!.EXE ├>─┤
MOVE!.EXE - A utility used to maintenance the FastBase. From within
Move!, you can move files to other areas, delete files, view archives/text
and so on.
MOVE!.INI - Config-file, should be fairly self-explanatory ..
Keywords:
STARTAREA=???, default area to enter when starting up...
ARCVIEW=???????, commandline for the external archive viewer..
First parameter is full path and filename to view.
UPLOADERNAME=??, Default uploader name..
General Functions:
---
F1 - Help! (Not Implemented Yet!)
F2 - Select filearea to maintenance.
F3 - View file. See note above about ARCVIEW.
F4 - Inoperative
F5 - Inoperative
F6 - Move specified file(s).
F7 - Inoperative
F8 - Delete specified file(s).
F9 - Inoperative
F10 - Quit! Exit to OS etc.
** Note: When in filelist, pressing ENTER will highlight files for
the various functions!
** Note: You are not FORCED to use MOVE!.exe, if you like you can use
any FileManager (like Febbs/ProFam) and update the FastBase
with CREATEFB.exe
├──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ LOCALDSZ.EXE ├>─┤
LOCALDSZ.EXE - This is a program that will Copy/Move files locally, but
letting it look that they are downloaded, because DSZ-Logfile created.
This util could also be used by other programs (Like FileDoor Lite) to let
you download Locally.
÷÷ LOCALDSZ.EXE <Options> <File> ÷÷
-T<Path> : TargetDir (=UploadDir)
-M : Move Files instead of Copying
-? : This brings up the HelpScreen ..
-H : Read Above!
<File> can be a File or a List (@<List>)
** Example Upload Command:
LOCALDSZ -T<UploadPath>
** Example Download Command:
LOCALDSZ @<ListFile>
├──────────────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ FILES.BBS FORMAT ├>─┤
Some folks had difficulties with the FILES.BBS format. Well, it is very
simple. It is almost the same as with Easttag and other standard
FILES.BBS listers. As following:
Start_Files.BBS:
FILENAME.EXT Description Row 1
+Description Row 2
+Description Row 3
+Description Row 4
+Description Row etc
FILENAM2.EXT Description Row 1
+Description Row 2
+Description Row 3
+Description Row 4
The '+' MUST be at position TWO!.
├─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ MISCELLANEOUS ├>─┤
** For the dudes who have a shortage of ENVIRONMENT Space, use the
ENVPATCH.exe tool. This will patch your COMMAND.COM (MS/PCDOS) and
will increase the default size (256bytes) to whatever you want..
** CDROM areas must have the flag CDROM be set on YES in the FILES.RA.
In case there is no FILES.BBS available at the CDrom, you can place
the 'files.bbs' the \FASTBASE\LIST\ directory. The listing must
have a filename of the following format: FB<areanumber>.LST.
For example if you have area 500 which is a CDrom area, the file
\FASTBASE\LIST\FB500.LST will exist and contain (in FILES.BBS format)
the listing of the CDrom area as defined in the FILES.RA.
** NOTE: All the files on the CDROM will have the same date set as
the FBxxx.LST file. So if you have a new CDrom (but with
old files), just stamp the FBxxx.LST file, run CREATEFB
and the whole CDrom area will have the current date (and
will appear as new in the newfiles scan).
** While Adding file to the TagFile, you can give '//' as Filename to
access the GlobalDownload mode (Free Time and KB!). If no password
is specified in TAGCFG GlobalDownload is not accessible
** PCBCodes are fully support, including the layout info:
@<Code>:<Pad><Outline>@
<Code> is the PCBCode
<Pad> is the Size of the Field, if the data is shorter it will be
padded by spaces.
<Outline> this could be R to Outline the Field to the Right, or C to
Center the Field.
** Examples
@USER@ will change to 'John Doe'
@USER:12@ will change to 'John Doe '
@USER:14C@ will change to ' John Doe '
@USER:14R@ will change to ' John Doe'
** Multichatter Support:
From the buildin Who's Online or When an online message is received
there could be an option to go to the multichatter direct! The
multichatter (mostly HexaChat!) must be installed under the
RAMGR-F1 Key in Raconfig (Options -> Files -> RAMGR FnKeys).
*P, *N and *B codes are supported.
** LOGO.A??:
The WarezTag! Logo-Files LOGO.A?? Could be changed and added if you
wish. Just create .A1 .A2 .A3 etc. only a LOGO.ANS is also enough if
you only want one Logo. For Random Logo's you need the LOGO.A?? Files.
** FILE_ID.DIZ Extractor:
For the dudes who don't have a proper file_id.diz extractor, we
recommend Dizzy v4.4. We will place him in the /wareztag/ directory
on our FTP site in case you want him. (DIZZY44.ZIP)
** Remote Access Groups/Areas Definitions:
Some dudes had difficulties with the security matters etc, of the
areas. We check access in the following order:
[1] View Security + Flags
[2] Download Security + Flags
If step one is not alright, it does not automaticly mean he cannot
download from that area! And vice versa, so keep that in mind!
If users type CTRL-J in WarezTag! they will get the GroupChanger,
you can define groups in RACONFIG, and must specify at each area
in which group (or groups) it belongs to.
├──────────────────────────────────────────<┤ Not Yet Implemented Features ├>─┤
- All the screens are fixed, except LOGO.A??
- File_ID.Diz stripper/cleaner is not working 100%
- MOVE!.EXE has a lot of missing options yet
- All Texts are also fixed, in the final release a lot of texts are will be
supported by a Language file
- More PCBCodes will be supported
- External Upload File Processor / Virus scanner
├────────────────────────────────────────────────<┤ Known and Unknown Bugs ├>─┤
The following bugs/problems could apear:
- Sharing violations during upload fileprocessing
- Bimodem Upload/Download not tested very well, aborted files are also
seen as fully downloaded/uploaded. (Hint: Who can give good bimodem
settings or tips how to read the logfile!)
- well, that was it :)...
Other bugs are unknown to us (whow, scary :))
├────────────────────────────────────<┤ Notes for Programmers & Releasers! ├>─┤
Wareztag! supports the following files in the uploaded archives, which will
be extracted and inserted in the following order of priority:
FILE_ID.PCB standard dizfile with with (fast) PCB Codes in it. With
@HANGUP@ protection of course :-)
FILE_ID.ANS the same dizfile only with ANSI colors in it
FILE_ID.ASC the same dizfile only with ASCII colors in it
FILE_ID.DIZ standard .diz file (PCBoard standard)
The following environment SETtings are supported by all the Synopsis/EOH
utilities:
SET PROMPTS = Here you can place all your PROMPTxx.ANS and MORExx.ANS
SET TASK = Same as with FrontDoor/IM: Which task you currently run.
(only usefull for multinode boards)
SET LOG = Where the logfiles will be placed (mostly only used for
the Default config setting)
SET DSZLOG = Where the DSZ-compatible logfile will be placed.
SET FASTBASE = Path to the FastBase (without it TAG! won't run)
** Other important stuff to know:
FILES.BBS Yep, Wareztag works with the old FILES.BBS... no shitty
big, slow RA-FileBase.
@PCBOARDCODES@ Wareztag supports the most important PCB-codes + All Colors!.
^K/^F Codes The most important Remote Access one's (RA 2.50 compatible!)
STRUCTURES The structures for 3rd party software will be released
when the official Wareztag! is available. Releasing it
now isn't usefull because structs are just like living
creatures :))
