^4[2 CTEXT[0 (meaning colour text) is a new[2 AMOS[0 extension from Aaron
^4Fothergill. It eliminates the problem of using disk based fonts in
^4AMOS. It is available for Amos Club Members only, from Sandra Sharkey
^4at^2 DEJA VU SOFTWARE^4 for a mere £3.50p (sole distributor).
^5 This program is definately the one for all demo writers! And all
^5would be demo writers who are at the `if-only-I-could-get-text-to
^5-scroll-like-that' stage!
^6 It takes up less than 3000 bytes of memory and gives you 5 new[2 AMOS[0
^6commands. It is one of the most powerful extensions so far.
^4 It is used in addition to the text command, which is itself fast when
^4using the default font, but longwinded when a new font needs to be
^4loaded from disk. Also, whereas Text command gives you single colour
^4fonts only,[2 CTEXT[0 lets you use fonts of up to 64 colours. (Does that
^4make your mind boggle?) It can also use any size font you want.
^5 The fonts are stored in Bank 10 as tiles and are very easy to
^5manipulate as are all icons. As long as the fonts are placed
^5correctly on an IFF screen there is a program which will cut them out
^5and store them for you. To edit fonts, use Aaron's SpriteX program,
^5(also for club members only, from Deja Vu £3.50p.)
^6 Aaron has written a full explanation of the new commands in the Amos
^6Newsletter Issue 4.
^4 I might have written a program or two over the last year, but as a
^4demo writer I'd not get very far, but having said that, I produced
^4the type of scrolly message you see in all demos in only 5 minutes.
^4(with ready to go graphics). There is no massive string clipping, and
^4and no data storage. The output is exceptionally fast and smooth, and
^4because it uses XY coordinates, like Text, it is easy to produce
^4sinus scrollers.
^2 If you want professional results for demos AND for applying text to
^2games etc, then[2 CTEXT[0 is a real gem of a bargain at £3.50p
