^2----------------------------------------------------------------------
^6@7C.Y.A.D. by Jamez Newcombe.@
^1[2L.P.D. 26.[0
^7Joystick (and brain) needed.
^2--------------------------------------------------------------------
^6[2C.Y.A.D.[0 stands for [3Controllable Yellow Automated Device,[0 which is
^6the name of the object you control in this game.
^5 It is[2 controllable[0 in as much as you decide in which direction it
^5will move, namely North, South, East or West.
^6 Yes, it is[2 yellow,[0 and looks rather like a shirt button, as
^6described in the docs file.
^5[2 C.Y.A.D.[0 is fully[2 automated[0 as it will continue in the direction
^5you've sent it until it meets an obstacle when it obligingly stops
^5and awaits your next command.
^6 Well, calling it a[2 device[0 makes for a better game title than calling
^6it a thing or object (which would make the title C.Y.A.T. or
^6C.Y.A.O.)
^2 You are taken into the[1 'World of C.Y.A.D.'[0 which is shown as a map
^2made up of squares, some of which are linked by bridges.
^7 Each square represents a level of the game, the darker the square,
^7the harder the level. You start on level one, where else, this level
^7must be done first, but after this you can decide which level to do
^7next. You may choose any adjacent square as long as it is connected to
^7the one you've just completed.
^1 The idea is to collect all the yellow diamonds you see and finding
^1your way out of the maze through the exit which appears after you've
^1picked up all the diamonds.
^4 It isn't as straightforward as it sounds as there are many other
^4features on each level which are there to hinder or to help you.
^2 There are wall blocks which can be blasted away with a laser frame
^2(see later) forcer arrows which throw [2 C.Y.A.D.[0 in the direction it
^2is pointing, not always helpful as you can be pushed into a mine!
^2Certain blocks act as switches which turn other features of the level
^2on and off, some disappear after they have been used, while others
^2can be used to turn things off and on again.
^7 Sometimes you have to bounce off springs to get around, or push
^7blocks into place so that[2 C.Y.A.D.[0 can be forced to stop when it next
^7touches it. There are teleport features in some levels which whisk
^7you off to another part of the level. The glue patches are vital in
^7many levels as they halt[2 C.Y.A.D.'s[0 progress for you to move off in
^7another direction. These disappear after you move off them and it's
^7quite easy to move off them accidentally and lose the advantage of
^7landing on them in the first place.
^2 You may arm yourself with a laser frame which you can shoot at
^2another object to remove it from the level. They will not remove
^2`rivited' squares, shooting them is a waste of time.
^7 Some levels are set against a timer. However, you will not find out
^7if the level is timed until you make the first move, as touching the
^7joystick activates the timer bar at the top of the screen.
^6 If you want to admit defeat in the middle of a level, or if you can
^6see that you've blown it by making a wrong move, press 'Q' to get
^6back to the `World of C.Y.A.D.' screen where you can either try the
^6same level again, or choose to try you skill on another level.
^6Pressing 'Q' twice takes you back to the front screen where you can
^6press 'I' to take a look at the different features and what they do.
^6You can go back to the map and carry on playing from here. You can
^6practice on the three tutorial levels by pressing 'T'.
^4 There is a SAVE feature included, you simply press 'S' on the[1 ~World
^4of C.Y.A.D.'[0 screen and it will be done for you. 'L' lets you load in
^4your saved game.
^2 This game has kept me hooked for many hours so far. It can take many
^2attempts to complete a level and can make you feel quite stupid for
^2not finding the correct sequence of moves straght away. I think that
^2this one is a must for those of you who enjoy logic games rather than
^2bash and slash 'em ups.[6 Nice one Jamez¹[0
