MAZEMAN ©1992 S.Eaborn
Yes, I know it's been done before, but I thought I would
do it again in AMOS to see how good it would be, and I
think it turned out quite well.
If you don't know how to play MazeMan then you must have
been living on Mars for the past 20 years, but just for
any martians that want to play here are the instructions:
The idea is to guide the little yellow character around
the maze eating as many dots as possible, while avoiding
the four ghosts that are intent on hunting you down.
Scattered around (most of) the mazes are larger dots
which, when eaten, turn the ghosts blue for a while and
send them running. If you eat a ghost when it is in this
state then you gain extra points (200,400,800 & 1600 for
each ghost eaten).
One of 4 edible objects appear now and then in the middle
of the maze, if you can eat it then it will give you one
of these bonuses:
Grapes - Turns ghosts blue (Sometimes!)
Doughnut - Makes ghosts blind
Candy Stick - Slows ghosts down
Gingerbread Man - Extra life
Grapes, Doughnut & Candy Stick are only effective when the
ghosts are not blue.
Eating a bonus also gives you extra points.
There are 16 mazes in all, enough to keep you going for a
while!
Control is via the joystick in port 2, firebutton pauses
the game.
AMOS Info:
The game uses hardware sprites for all the characters and
bonuses for reasons of speed. It runs suprisingly fast,
even when not compiled.
The majority of the work is done in Amal, with Amos
taking care of score, sounds, screen setup and bonuses.
I have included an uncompiled version (MazeMan.AMOS) for your
perusal if you wish. It's not the most elegant bit of
programming but it works!
This game can be freely distributed as long as this 'readme'
and all 16 mazes are retained with it.
I retain all copyright, this game may not be distributed for
profit without my prior permission.
:O) HAVE FUN!
