CPUClr V4.000
COPYRIGHT
This program is based on a program written by Peter Simons, which
in turn was based on the original CPUClr-version by Oliver Wagner.
This version of CPUClr is Freeware, so anybody may use it without
any charge. You are welcome to give this program to your friends,
as long as you do not charge any money for it.
WHAT IS IT ?
CPUClr is a small hack, inspired by CPUBlit, that replaces the
BltClear()-Routine of the "graphics.library" with a highly
optimized 68020 (or higher) version. This gains (in a simple test)
approx. 60% speed and should be even faster on an A3000,
because the CPU works more efficiently with 32-Bit ChipRAM.
NEW FEATURES
CPUClr V3.5 can now be removed from the system any time, even
if other patches for BltClear() were installed later.
Patch.library makes it possible.
CPUClr V4 main routines have been totally rewritten from
scratch. It should now be even faster especially, when
clearing big memory areas. (movem.l makes it possible)
INSTALLATION
All you have to do to install the patch is to call CPUClr in
your User-Startup! (No RUN is needed.) Executing CPUClr a
second time will remove the patch again. You may also have to
copy the patch.library into your Libs: drawer.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
CPUClr requires at least an 68020 CPU. If you running CPUClr on
a machine not equipped with an 68020er, CPUClr will quietly fail.
You also need the patch.library version 2 or up to be installed in
your Libs: drawer.
