INTRODUCTION
Stephen Robertson is a British artist
who graced many games during the late
1980's with load screens. LOADSTAR
stumbled upon his work while searching
the Web for something else -- and knew
you would want to see these images.
Stephen was very gracious in sending
us Koala graphics, and allowing us to
use some of the text he wrote for his
web site.
So, sit back and enjoy. Our first
graphic is called IBall. Then Stephen
will take over the story...

This Star Wars picture is the second
C64 picture I drew, and the second
time I've drawn it. The original
version was drawn on an Atari 800 with
an Atari Touch Tablet, along with
several other pictures. The only copy
I have of these are some low quality
thermal screen-dumps.
After I drew my Atari pictures I
bought a second-hand Koala Pad from
another friend, and this was the
first picture I drew on it, primarily
for my own amusement.

Looking back at it now it looks
pretty awful. It was drawn from
memory, so the X-Wing's fuselage is
completely wrong, and the shading on
the Deathstar isn't that brilliant
either!

This picture was based on the advert
for the platform game Monty On The
Run, and was drawn for my own
amusement. I remember reading the
review for the game in the UK C64
magazine Zzap! 64, and seeing the
game running on the ZZap! 64 stand at
a computer show. The music was
amazing!

After drawing the picture I sent it
with some other artwork to Gremlin
Graphics, the publisher of the game,
to see if I could do some work for
them. Shortly afterwards I got a
standard letter from them saying
something like:
"Thank you for sending us your game.
Unfortunately your game does not meet
our current standards"
I was a little bit annoyed and upset
that they couldn't even write a
proper letter, and when the game came
out I thought my version was better
than the game's actual loading
screen.
