[DAVE'S PREAMBLE:] Thorsten (a.k.a.
"Sledgie") sent me this S.E.U.C.K.
game from Germany. This can be a one-
or two- player adventure in the "Land
of Dwarves." Simply press the joystick
FIRE button to activate a player.
Half the fun of a Shoot-em-Up like
this is figuring out what you must
(and [must not]) -- so Good Luck!
I asked Thorsten to write up some
notes about the project....
--------------
Several weeks (or was it months)
ago, I found S.E.U.C.K. on the Web.
What is it, I wondered? Then I
remembered that this is the great
Shoot-Em-Up Construction Kit. I wanted
to find a quick reference, but I
couldn't find any. Friends sent me the
English instructions. So I think I can
make a tutorial for SEUCK. But first,
I decided it would be a good idea to
have a little practice. So I began in
November, 2005, with a blank project
and took my first steps.
At first, this was a one level
game called "Goldsucher" (in English:
Gold Quest). A friend from Austria,
"Stefan", was my Beta-Tester. He
helped me to create more interesting
levels.
After my version reached 2 levels,
he told me it would be much better to
have a nice intro and add a little
music. But I didn't know how to do
that. So I searched for a musician or
someone with more experience in the
Commodore Demo Scene. Richard Bayliss
helped me, and together we made the
3rd Level -- and added the Bonus-Level
(with the evil three-headed-King in
the Laser-Room).
The idea to have one player with 7
and another player with only 3 lives
(his name was Dave ;-) ), comes from
my son. He said 3 lives is impossible.
But Stefan said with 7 lives is too
easy. So I made both versions in one
game...
The result is a very nice game to
play -- with "Dave" and "Sledgie" as
team. First you must let Dave collect
the gold to give him more lives. They
must both come to the Score-Room to
win the game. But if one of them runs
too fast, the game hangs :-[ . Both
characters must be visible on the
screen at all times.

[DAVE'S AFTER-THOUGHT]
Three-headed King! The danger never
ends, does it. "Sledgie" has a good
feel for game design, with the
problems increasing with every step. I
am not a master joysticker, but this
was a lot of fun (for as long as I
could live).
We hope to hear more from Thorsten --
and we will publish his tutorial on
S.E.U.C.K. when it is available.
