PRACTICAL SYSOP PROGRAM & SYSOP EXPRESS
=======================================
Practical Peripherals, Inc. is currently offering a new promotion allowing
BBS SysOps to purchase either of the company's two best-selling V.32bis
modems at substantially reduced prices.
In addition, the SYSOP EXPRESS program will be available to all sysops who
are currently in our BBS sysop database and for ALL BBS Sysops who purchase
one of the Practical modems under this new promotional plan.
SYSOP EXPRESS is an exclusive PPI program which guarantees that your BBS
will never be down for an extended period due to a modem hardware failure.
If PPI Technical Support is notified before 10 a.m., Pacific Time, Monday
through Thursday, we will immediately ship you a replacement modem by Federal
Express. This program only covers Practical modems listed in our BBS SysOp
database.
The Modems:
-----------
This promotion will allow qualified BBS sysops to purchase either the
PM14400FXSA or the PM14400FXMT modem. (Offer ends 9-30-93)
The PM14400FXSA is the AT&T-based external V.32bis FAX/DATA modem which has
10 front-panel LEDs as well as a 12-character LCD which displays constant
status messages of the modem session.
The PM14400FXMT is a small footprint Rockwell-based external V.32bis
FAX/DATA modem which supports 8 front-panel LEDs and caller ID, but does
not have the Liquid Crystal Display of the PM14400FXSA modem.
Both modems use the Motorola 32-bit 68302 microprocessor and run essentially
the same Hayes-compatible AT controller code written by Practical's software
engineers.
You may obtain a full data sheet on either of these modems by calling the
PractiFAX system at 800-225-4774. Just follow the voice menus and select the
FAX document you want: 1010 for the PM14400FXSA or 1200 for the PM14400FXMT.
If you do not currently have FAX capability, you can download complete
product specifications from PPIFORUM on CompuServe. The files are in Library
6 and are named PM14SA.TXT and PM14MT.TXT. These files are also available on
the PPI BBS at 805-496-4445.
Modem Model: MSRP: SYSOP SPECIAL PRICE: SAVINGS:
---------- ----- -------------------- --------
PM14400FXSA: $549 $250* $299
PM14400FXMT: $399 $200* $199
*These prices do not include a $7.50 per unit shipping charge or the
applicable California sales tax which must be paid by California residents.
Qualifications:
---------------
To be eligible to purchase modems under this BBS Sysop promotional offer,
you must meet the following requirements:
[] Have an established full-time (7-day, 24-hour) BBS.
[] Agree to provide notice on the system logon screen
that the Practical modem or modems are supporting
your system or specified lines on your system if
it is a multi-line BBS.
[] Provide a non-terminating access logon account,
membership number, and/or password so that PPI can
access your system for validation purposes.
[] Agree that any and all modems purchased under this
promotional offer are NOT for resale and will be used
on your BBS at the phone number or numbers listed on
the order form.
[] Provide a photocopy of your telephone billing which
lists each of the data lines for which you will be
purchasing a modem under this promotional offer. The
number of modems you can buy will be limited only by
the number of validated lines your system supports.
SYSOP EXPRESS DETAILS:
----------------------
Once your BBS is listed in the Practical BBS Sysop database, you will be
eligible to take advantage of the SYSOP EXPRESS program.
This program provides that if your BBS is down due to a modem hardware
failure of a qualified PPI modem, and you call PPI tech support before 10
a.m. Pacific time, Monday through Thursday, a replacement modem will be
shipped to you via FedEX overnight delivery. Calls received by Practical
Peripherals Tech Support on Friday or during the weekend service hours will
be treated as being made before 10 a.m. on the following Monday.
Saturday delivery by Priority FedEX can be arranged if you call in on Friday
before 10 a.m. Pacific Time, however, there will be a $20 surcharge added to
the standard SYSOP EXPRESS shipping fee.
When the replacement modem arrives, simply remove the replacement modem
and SYSOP EXPRESS return label from the packaging. Place the failed modem in
the same package, put the SYSOP EXPRESS label on the box, and ship it to
PPI. It is suggested that you ship the modem back with appropriate
insurance and via a method and carrier which can validate receipt by
Practical Peripherals. PPI will NOT be responsible for RMA modem returns
which are lost in transit.
When you call PPI tech support, the PPI telephone technician will verify
your listing in the BBS Sysop database and you will be issued an
RMA number. This number will be on the SYSOP EXPRESS label in the package.
If you are NOT listed in the database, the telephone technician will NOT be
able to enter you into that database as he will only have READ access to
that database.
All database entries for presently-owned PPI modems which you wish to have
covered by the SYSOP EXPRESS program MUST be listed on the attached order
form, including the serial numbers. You will also have to agree to the
requirements for newly purchased modems under the "Qualifications" heading
in this file. This order form can then be returned to the PPI Telemarketing
Department who will validate your BBS and enter your currently-owned PPI
modem or modems into the SYSOP EXPRESS database.
In order to participate in the SYSOP EXPRESS program providing overnight
replacement of any failed PPI modem, you must:
[] Be listed in the Practical BBS Sysop database
[] Provide a valid major credit card number when you
make your call for overnight replacement delivery.
Two credit card slips will be created when your RMA request is entered. One
will list the current SYSOP EXPRESS FedEX charge and will be processed
immediately. The second will be in the amount of the replacement modem's
cost and will be held for 14 days pending return of the failed unit. If the
RMA unit is NOT received by PPI in 14 days, the second charge slip will be
processed and the modem cost will be charged to your account.
Although personal checks can be used to purchase modems under the BBS Sysop
promotional offer, only valid major credit cards can be used for
participation in the SYSOP EXPRESS program.
The current (3-1-93) overnight SYSOP EXPRESS charge is $22.50. This program
is only offered to BBS Sysops located within the Continental United States.
This offer is NOT valid in Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, or anywhere other than
the contiguous 48 United States.
The amount of the SYSOP EXPRESS shipping charge is subject to change without
notice as it is based upon the tariffs of the Federal Express Company. The
Practical telephone technician will be able to tell you the current rate, if
and when such a change is made by the carrier.
How to Place your Order:
------------------------
The next section of this file contains an order form. All you need do is
fill in the order form, enclose a check, money order, or a valid major
credit card number and send the order to:
Practical Peripherals, Inc.

Please note that this order form MUST be signed, indicating that you agree
to the terms of this promotional offer and agree to pay the charges billed
to your credit card.
Personal checks will be deposited immediately, however, charges will not be
