  1. LottoMan Shareware Evaluation Program

  4. There are two common installation errors which may
  5. cause the program to fail when you first try to run
  6. it. If you get a Window Creation error or a message
  7. that says CTL3DV2.DLL is not properly installed, see
  8. the troubleshooting section later in this file.

  11. This installation requires 4,500,000 bytes of free
  12. space on your hard drive. (4.5 meg)
  13.  
  14. This program is provided as shareware for your use
  15. for evaluation purposes only. If you intend to keep
  16. the program for continued use,  you must register it.
  17. Failure to do so is a violation of the license terms
  18. for this program and a violation of the program copyright.

  22. To install this program run setup.exe if you have not
  23. already done so. Specify the name of the directory in 
  24. which you would like to install LottoMan. You  should 
  25. use the option to install new files only.

  27. If you are a registered LottoMan user, you can convert
  28. this shareware copy to the registered version by entering
  29. your personal serial number and password key. If you don't
  30. have your activation codes and are a registered user,
  31. contact us via E-Mail or voice line and we will provide
  32. them for you. See the help topic on Registering Your Copy
  33. for instructions on how to activate this version.

  38. You may register LottoMan via CompuServe. GO SWREG and 
  39. search for the author's ID (74151,1035), the program
  40. name (LottoMan), or databgase ID number 3604. Online
  41. registration is $129.95 - Alternatively, you may register
  42. via US mail. See the Registration topic in the help file
  43. for more info. Registration by mail is set at $129.95.

  48. First and foremost, let me thank Bob Dolan who wrote the 
  49. installation program being used here. He won't win any 
  50. awards for the obligatory snazzy bells and whistles... 
  51. but it gets the job done very well and in the spirit of 
  52. shareware he has made it free to shareware authors. 
  53. Thank you Bob. I highly recommend you at least give it 
  54. a look for your own use. You can get ahold of Bob on 
  55. CIS at 71075,3256. Look for InstallWare to download the 
  56. installer, for your own look see, from WINSDK.

  71.  OBJECT WINDOWS EXCEPTION - WINDOW CREATION FAILED
  72. ===================================================

  74. If you get a message while trying to run LottoMan
  75. which indicates an Object Windows Exception that
  76. a window creation failed, this is dues to an
  77. improperly installed copy of the file BWCC.DLL.
  78. This file is provided as a standard library file
  79. by Borland International. Their standard for using
  80. the file states that it should be installed in the
  81. \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. However, for some reason
  82. many programs install this file in the \WINDOWS
  83. directory instead. If you get this error, you can
  84. be nearly certain a program has installed an older
  85. version of this file (than the one shipped with
  86. LottoMan) in the \WINDOWS directory.

  88. To fix this problem, run the File Manager program
  89. that comes with Windows. Choose the File/Search
  90. menu option. In the box labeled "Search For" type
  91. in BWCC.DLL and type a single backslash (\) in the
  92. "Search From" box. Make sure the "Search All
  93. Subdirectories" option is checked and click on OK.
  94. File Manager will search your entire system for
  95. copies of BWCC.DLL and list each copy it finds.

  97. Once you know where all the copies are, copy the
  98. most recent one to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory
  99. (unless the one LottoMan put there is the newest)
  100. then delete all other copies. This will *not*
  101. bother any of your existing programs since Windows
  102. will take care of finding the file for them.

  105.     CTL3DV2.DLL IS NOT PORPERLY INSTALLED
  106. ===================================================

  108. If you get this message when you first run LottoMan,
  109. you have a problem similar to the one just discussed.
  110. For what it is worth, the program will work fine
  111. without this file... it only affects the appearance
  112. of the dialogs and controls. However, to fix the
  113. problem run the Windows File Manager program and
  114. select the File/Search menu option. Enter the file
  115. name CTL3DV2.DLL in the "Search For" box and a single
  116. backslash (\) in the "Search From" box. Make sure the
  117. "Search All Subdirectories" option is checked and
  118. click OK.

  120. As before, copy the most recent version you find to
  121. the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and delete all other
  122. copies. Again, this will not hurt other programs.
  123. CTL3DV2.DLL is a standard library file supplied by
  124. MicroSoft which gives programs that nice three
  125. dimensional look. As with BWCC.DLL, this file must
  126. be installed in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and
  127. there may not be more than one copy on your computer.
