  1. ABOUT THIS APPLICATION (AZZ Cardfile 1.6)

  3. Purpose
  4.  
  5. Earlier I used to keep addresses, phones and other personal information 
  6. in Microsoft Cardfile cards. I missed Cardfile in Microsoft Windows 95. 
  7. Alternatives - MS Scheduler, MS Outlook, various freeware or shareware 
  8. PIMs were either too complex or not convenient to use. 
  9. I just need simple small notebook with fast item location possibility. 
  10. I want something like empty cards - without any predefined fields 
  11. (street address, zip, state, phone, fax, etc.).

  13. Instead of using old MS Cardfile I decide to make such PIM myself. 
  14. This small application helps me now to manage phone numbers and addresses. 
  15. It could be used as a small "database" for the references, notes, 
  16. recipes, ... for everything, as any card file.

  18. Main features and limitations

  20. * Compressed, encrypted and password protected data files
  21. * Import Microsoft Cardfile *crd files (text only)
  22. * Automatically sorted index
  23. * Speed dial, E-mail, WWW
  24. * Index filter-on-enter (I missed this feature in MS Cardfile)
  25. * User defined colors and fonts
  26. * Fashionable user interface
  27. * Window's position, size, MRU files stored in Registry
  28. * Large amount of cards could decrease filtering speed. 
  29.   Intend to use this application for 10000 or less cards

  31. Using AZZ Cardfile

  33. Instructions and Tips
  34.  
  35. * Load sample file ACCSAMPLE.AZZ for testing and learning
  36. * Try to enter some text (any fragment of card title) to Input Box. 
  37.   Filter will turn on automatically.
  38. * "Press off" Filter Button to show all cards.
  39. * Select with mouse any text on the Card. Selected text will appears 
  40.   in the Dial Edit Box. Press Dial Button and Phone Dialer, e-mail or 
  41.   WWW browser (depending of Dial Edit Box contents) will start.
  42. * Search Button will help to find any text on any card 
  43.   (not in Cards list. Use filter for this purpose).
  44. * Use Tools|Options menu to change fonts, colors and list orientation.
  45. * After testing you can import your CRD file or start new AZZ file.
  46. * Use File|Protect menu to encrypt your AZZ file. Remember password!

  50. AZZ Cardfile is FREEWARE application and never expires. 
  51. So, use it as you like, but redistribute it also as freeware.
