"Travelers" or pedlars were a common sight in most communities in the Atlantic provinces in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They travelled from place to place selling everything from pots and pans to combs and soap. "Sky" Beals was a well-known pedlar, dancer and handyman in Nova Scotia.
