  5.    International News E-Wire Service (INEWS) is an English
  6. language daily, covering news of the world.  INEWS provides
  7. up-to-date and accurate world news.  It also includes many
  8. features covering such topics as economics, science, medicine,
  9. technology, agriculture, and music.

  11.    Every day, INEWS gathers reports filed by correspondents
  12. stationed at 26 news bureaus throughout the world.  INEWS relates
  13. first-hand coverage of stories from news bureaus in Abidjan,
  14. Bangkok, Beijing, Berlin, Bonn, Cairo, Chicago, Geneva, Hong
  15. Kong, Islamabad, Jerusalem, Johannesburg, London, Los Angeles,
  16. Miami, Moscow, Nairobi, New Delhi, New York, Paris, Prague, Rio
  17. de Janeiro, San Jose, Tokyo, Vienna, and Washington, D.C.

  19.    Daily INEWS service is available for less than $4.00 a month.

  21.    Delivered through E-mail in one of two versions, plain text or
  22. a DOS/VGA version.  The DOS/VGA version is sent either through
  23. E-mail, encoded, or through file transfer on America Online.  The
  24. encoded version is not available through FIDO Net.

  26.    What is an encoded file?  Most electronic mail systems can't
  27. handle binary files.  Binary files are word processor and
  28. spreadsheet data files, and files with a .EXE or .COM extension. 
  29. UUENCODE is a file conversion standard.  It will change a binary
  30. file into an ASCII file, that can be sent through E-mail.  Once
  31. you receive the encoded file(s) through E-mail, you can decode it
  32. to return the file back to its binary form.

  34.    Included in this sign-up kit is a self-extracting file,
  35. UUXFER.EXE, which contains the files for the shareware program
  36. UUXFER20.  UUXFER20 is the program we recommend for decoding
  37. INEWS encoded files.  UUXFER20 is shareware, if you continue to
  38. use it after the 30-day trial period you must register it with
  39. its author.  Public domain and freeware UUENCODE
  40. encoding/decoding software are available.

  42.    INEWS Daily can be mailed to almost any E-mail address on:
  43. Internet, AppleLink, America Online, AT&T Mail, AT&T EasyLink,
  44. BITNET, CompuServe, DELPHI, FIDO Net, GEnie, MCI Mail,
  45. SprintMail, and many local BBS services.

  92.    We recommend that you use the shareware program UUXFER20.  A
  93. self-extracting UUXFER20 package, UUXFER.EXE is included in this
  94. sign up kit.  If you receive the following encoded files:

  102.    At the command line of the directory containing the encode 
  103. files and UUXFER20 you should type:

  105.     UUXFER20 -M -D<FILENAME>

  107.    The file name is always the encoded file with the .1
  108. extension. In this case you would enter:

  110.     UUXFER20 -M -DINWS1231.1
  111.  
  112.    This would convert the encoded files into the file
  113. INWS1231.EXE, the self-running December 31st edition of INEWS
  114. Daily.
